 Countdown has started for the last championship event of the season 2012 and it is like always run at Santa Pod Raceway in England. We have made an overview and preview of what the FIA & UEM championship standings look like and dared to speculate a bit of what can be expected..

Top Fuel at the Scandinavian Internationals had everything drag racing has to offer. Great numbers, close racing in qualifying and eliminations, major upsets and the number two in the championship closing the gap to the leader to 26 points with only one race to go.

All this race lacked was a European ET record, an all-time-low bump spot and a completed final. Otherwise, it had just about everything.. and the low qualifier was not one of the ordinary top performers..

Before this event, the championship leader was Thomas Lindström with 263 points leading from Jimmy Ålund on 224 and Micke Callin on 176. And Callin made his way into the history books by improving the European speed record..

Rookie Jonnie Lindberg impressed most this time, when he managed to set one leg of a new European speed recod, while Andréasson continued to prove he can run at a level which has set the standard this season..

A milestone in the Methanol Dragster class when Krister Johansson made his last appearance in Sweden after deciding to retire after a long career..

A new European and World record by team STARTA  and rider Peter Svensson in Top Fuel Bike was the talk of the event, but he was not the only one who impressed in the class..

And then it finally happened.. after 8 years Anders Charley Karlings ET record in Super Twin was passed by not only one but two riders at the same event and a piece of new Super Twin Bike history was written at Tierp Arena..

As in the other two UEM bike classes, Pro Stock Bike also presented a new European Record. It was Fredrik Fredlund who polished his own ET record from earlier this season and the outcome of the event means the European Finals will be a thriller..

What a season for Jari Halinen so far! After a number seven position in last year’s FIA European Top Fuel Championship, the friendly Finn is still in the running for the 2012 title and with one race to go, Halinen is only 26 points behind leader Risto Poutiainen..

Pro Mod driver Martin Lundkvist was one of the record producers at Scandinavian Internationals.

Halvor Ȍverby and wife Gerd have seen many dragstrips all over Europe.
This year they decided to make their holiday a dragrace tour and after the NitrOlympX at Hockenheim they travelled to Drachten for the Drachten Internationals..

Apart from the Norwegians themselves, drivers from Sweden, Finland,  , Switzerland and Germany was visiting the race. Nice athmosphere and a very good track means that they will come back, bringing more teams with them next year..  

Tierp Arena offered a spectacular weekend during the Scandinavian Internationals 2012.  Of course because it was the first time Sweden arrange an FIA and UEM championship event for the second time the same season, but most of all because all the records that was set..
