EDRS Driver in the spotlight: Super Street Halvor Överby
Halvor Ȍverby runner-up at Drachten
It doesn’t happen so many times a racer from the country that has so many dragstrips, comes to the Netherlands were they have one temporary strip and can only race three times a year. But Halvor Ȍverby did it and what a weekend he and his wife had. Great weather a perfect track, eleven qualifying runs and runner-up in eliminations. Halvor and team will be back and hopefully will bring many of their Swedish racing friends with them.

Halvor Ȍverby and his wife Gerd have seen many dragstrips all over Europe.

This year they decided to make their holiday a dragrace tour and after the NitrOlympX at Hockenheim they travelled to Drachten for the Drachten Internationals, to end their holiday a week later at Tierp Arena with the Scandinavian Internationals.

It was their first visit to Dragstrip Drachten, a non-permanent dragstrip in the north of Holland. With the blue Opel Kapitän Ȍverby entered Super Street at the Drachten Internationals, one of the three races for the Dutch Open Championship and the EDRS European Drag Racing Series at Dragstrip Drachten. And Ȍverby did very well. After eleven qualifying runs the only Swede at Drachten was number four in qualifying and advanced to the final, where he lost to local hero Gerjan Wolbers and took the runner-up position. “It was a great track with perfect traction and everybody was very friendly and helpful. We had a great weekend and are very happy we decided to go to Drachten. We hope to be back for more”, said Ȍverby.

The organizers of the Drachten dragraces hope to see him back too and that his positive experience will convince more Swedish racers to come to, and race at Dragstrip Drachten. It’s not so far away from the south of Sweden as most people think.
