Hockenheim
Over 25 years ago a group of 5 Drag Race Pioneers (Rico Antes, Jerry Lackey, Matheis Seidler, Hans Kloss. Jürgen Richter) approached the management of the Hockenheim ring in the hopes of filling the open date after cancellation of the Formula 1 event at the ring in 1986. We meet with open ears and was offered the chance to do a test event on the Start and Finish area of the Hockenheim ring.

Jürgen Nagel
Not at least at his own surprise Jürgen Nagel won the Main Event and although he did not race at Alastaro the German is still the number two in the FIA European Top Methanol Funny Car Championship. The man from Hamburg is except owner and driver also the designer and builder of the Funny Car and is in his best ever European season. Now it’s time for his home race, the NitrOlympX at Hockenheim.

Peter Schöfer
This year’s Hockenheim NitrOlympX will be a special race for Peter Schöfer and his team. Not only is it their home track, with almost 100 friends and fans coming to see them race the Rico Anthes Quartermile, but it’s also Peter Schöfer’s 25th year in drag racing, a jubilee the Bavarian would like to celebrate with a win.

Melanie Troxel
Troxel will be piloting the same '67 Camaro she drove to the quickest and fastest run on European soil when she zoomed down the quarter-mile in 5.937 seconds at 242.42 mph (390.13 kph) on May 30 at Santa Pod Raceway in England. The Roger Burgess-owned racecar has since improved those marks to 5.911 seconds at 245.78 mph (395.52 kph) with Hasselby, Sweden's Micke Gullqvist behind the wheel when he drove it to the title of the FHRA Nitro Nationals earlier this month at the Alastaro Circuit in Finland.

Safety Seminar
At the Friday of the Veidec Festival Simpson organised a seminar about personal safety in drag racing. The cars in drag racing are faster than ever before so the need for effective working safety equipment is more critical than ever. In one and a half hour Rickard Johansson (rescue and driver), Jan Phersson (Simpson Race Products Sweden) and Patrick Lynch (motorsport director of Shock Doctor USA) gave a closer look at different equipment and instructions how to use them
