After the rain-out at Mantorp Park there are unanswered questions that the teams bring to Hockenheim. The two drivers who found the best performance on the Hockenheim track at last year´s NitrOlympX were Peter Schöfer and Timo Habermann, racing for the honours in front of their home crowd. They were also number 1 & 2 qualifiers respectively and, true to form, Peter Schöfer was the winner.
Last year there were less than five hundredths of a second between the top 4 qualifiers. The A-fuel dragsters of Krister Johansson and Dave Wilson were no 3 and 4, with the Norwegians (Hanssen and Udtian) in 5th and 6th. Bringing up the rear were Derek Flynn and Dennis Habermann, with a 5.527 for the bump spot.
There is also the possibility of an all-German final with Timo Habermann and Peter Schöfer in good form this year. They were number one and two qualifiers at the last meeting at Mantorp Park, it's their home track and and it would be a repeat of last year's final. Dennis Habermann is also doing well in the FIA Championship and that increase the odds. Dave Wilson is looking to regain his form and he's run well at Hockenheim in the past. This could be where he retunrs to the winners circle. What are the odds on it happening again? Well, this is drag racing and anything can, and does, happen.
