Newsletter #1 2013

I wish to start this newsletter by writing a few words about the loss of a highly respected collegue, Paula Marshall the secretary of Santa Pod Racers Club, who sadly lost the battle to leukemia a short while back. I did not have the honor of being a personal friend of Paula´s, but we had contact in connection with the championship races at Santa Pod over many years and met at other race tracks as well, in Hockenheim and Kunmadaras for instance when she was on duty also outside the UK assisting other organizers as the skilled administrator and co-ordinator she was. For me Paula was the face and heart of Santa Pod Racers Club. Helpful, efficient and on top of things and most often with a smile on her face. It is impossible not to appreciate a person like Paula and realise what a heck of a job (please excuse my language), she actually did. And beside that she seemed to be a genuinely nice and caring person. I will forever remember Paula with respect and appreciation for her contribution to European drag racing. My dear collegue Andy Rogers of eurodragster.com has naturally chosen to dedicate his Editor´s Diary in this edition to Paula.

EDRS International
- A new feature will be implemented in the EDRS European Drag Racing Series 2013 aimed at teams who wish to race outside their own country for minimun two races out of 4 that can be counted maximum in this points table. In the EDRS International drivers and riders from all over Europe can establish themselves in the points tables and compete against drivers & riders from many other nations independent on where their divisonal base is.  The concept have been worked out in close cooperation with a few EDRS organizers to encourage interaction between countries to an increased extent. The full concept of this new feature will be available at the EDRS website later this week.

The EDRS Divisional concept remains unchanged counting the 5 best events whereof max 2 can be outside the "home division".

Within the nearest few weeks further clarity about events and classes will be in place and information will be published on the EDRS website and via Eurodragster.com

In the next edition of newsletter we will include an article which feature the full concept of EDRS European Drag Racing Series 2013 as well as some of the thoughts both short and long term shared by members of the EDRS work group.

NEWS RELEASE FROM A CHAMPION..

Some of the teams are extra brilliant at promoting themselves and their sponsors via their own newsletters. The two gigants in Top Fuel Bike Ian King and Peter Svensson are among the best at it and this time we can include a link to European Top Fuel Bike Champion Ian King and  Puma Engineering/Gulf Oil Dragracing´s latest news update which bears a title which at least make me very curious. A year in the life of a Puma Top Fuel Bike engine.pdf - check it out!
