Top Methanol
Dragster Preview
The two drivers who found the best performance on the Mantorp Park track at last year´s VEIDEC Festival were Dave Wilson and Swede Krister Johansson. However the final was not run, as rain put a stop to the completion of the event.
Last year Dave Wilson qualified a tenth quicker than his fellow competitors, at 5.31 sec/433 km/h. He also set a new track speed record (and the first part of a new European record) running 446.92 km/h (277.70 mph). At the recent Alastaro event Wilson was also quickest, but that did not bring him success in eliminations. There is no question that he has the potential to get it all together and it could easily happen at Mantorp.

There is also the possibility of an all "Habermann final" at Mantorp, which would make it the 3rd time in a row this year. What are the odds on it happening again? Although highly possible in terms of performance, it's not a foregone conclusion.

Dennis has improved his performance this year with a new engine combination and has shown he's as quick on the lights as his brother. Both of them have excellent driving skills and very quick cars, they are two strong candidates for the final at Mantorp. Having said that, there are some obstacles to tackle first as the other teams won't let them have it all their own way. Wilson, Flynn, Johansson, Schöfer, Hanssen, Udtian and Raisvuo – all of these drivers have the potential to qualify well and win rounds. Sweden´s very own Krister Johansson is the obvious favorite and most popular driver in the class for this race. He is one of the real drag racing veterans this weekend and will, no matter what, have a hectic weekend working on his card and from all the attention he's bound to attract from visitors wanting to have a chat.

There are 9 cars entered for 8 places in the elimination ladder, so somebody goes home without racing. No matter what, Top Methanol dragster is always tough, close racing and produces consistent times and a great show for the spectators. We don't think that the VEIDEC festival will be any different.
