Pro Stock Preview
Three cars qualified in the 6.70´s at last year's VEIDEC Festival. Quickest of all was Richard "Nixxon" Sundblom 6.791, followed by reigning champions Jimmy Ålund´s 6.792, and Michael Malmgren on 6.794. Now that is what you call tight qualifying! The two drivers who were lined up for the rained-off final were Magnus Hansson and Jimmy Ålund.
Ålund also set a new track speed record in the semi-finals with 328.15 km/h (203.94mph) and ran the quickest Pro Stock ET of the weekend (6.77 sec) while doing so. Main Event winner Micke Callin found himself on the bump spot last year, with 6.919 and another seven drivers were left out of competition as the field was for 8 cars.

All 10 entries are well-known names this year and their first task is to claim one of only 8 spots in the ladder on race day. Ålund´s car has arrived back from competition in the US in time for the race at his home track Mantorp Park (Jimmy lives in Norrköping, only 35 minutes drive from the track). Major adjustments have been done to prepare it for "European" tracks.

The question being asked on a lot of lips concerns Michael Malmgren – is he on a winning streak? Another man in with a chance is Jan Palmqvist, who was in the final at Alastaro a few weeks ago, can he adjust and repeat? Micke Callin is another proven winner (at the Main Event), and what about Sundblom who was runner-up in the championship last year, his season hasn't really taken off yet. Also in contention are Tommy Leindahl who is also running the full championship. He really wants to make an impact at Mantorp. Jonas Dantanus was missing in Finland but is present at Mantorp. Engdahl, Jakobsson and Söderström make their first championship appearances this season at the VEIDEC Festival. What can they do to rock the boat in the battle for points, round wins and glory? And how sensitive will the Pro Stock Cars be to the partly resurfaced track? All these questions need answers, and these will be available on 1st August 1st after the final. Harald Sturhan will be missing in the field as he just reacently had to cancel his participation due to a too heavy work load repairwise. The team will be back in championship competition at Hockenheim mid-august.
