Jöran Persåker
TOP FUEL DRAGSTER
+ PRO MOD

Jöran Persåker is stressed to say the least. Not the least of his challenges is making sure that his business, Persåkers Speedshop, is run successfully. The business is working flat out at the moment. He says; "Everybody, including myself, are working very hard to get parts here from the US in a rush.
We use the UPS Express delivery service a lot these days. The biggest problem at the moment seems to be the matter of getting hold of tires for the Top Fueler. A delivery in the middle of August just won't do and Jöran has to work long hours to sort it. And there are still other parts missing for both his cars needed in time for Mantorp…"

Persåker is entering the VEIDEC Festival in both Top Fuel Dragster and Pro Mod classes. Asked if he focuses on one in preference to the other he quickly answers no. Two separate teams will work on the cars. His Top Fuel Dragster will be in the hands of the crew of his team mate and business partner Stig Neergaard, and his own crew will look after the Pro Mod Trans Am.

The plan is clear, this is not a one-off. Persåker has also entered both cars for the NitrOlympx at Hockenheim and plans to do the same for the European Finals at Santa Pod. After that there are plans to campaign the T/F car in the US at Las Vegas and Pomona. It's a joint project and Jöran says "It depends on funding and although the plan is set we may need to adjust it along the way. "

Back to the upcoming VEIDEC Festival at Mantorp, Persåker says without prompting that the idea of re-surfacing the track so close to the start of the race seems like a drivers worst nightmare, but adds that he appreciates the fact that the right lane has been leveled One of his Pro Mod qualifying runs at Mantorp last year very nearly ended in the barrier in that lane. He and many other riders and drivers have previously said that the bumpy right lane has been a problem, but not anymore.

Jöran tested his Pro Mod Trans Am at Orsa, Sweden recently and as he describes it "broke everything" while doing so. He is very much looking forward to the opportunity to test the car after the repairs, if possible before qualifying starts at Mantorp Park, but chances for that seem slim. Jöran's job during the VEIDEC Festival will be to drive the cars, not work on them. Our guess is his duties will keep him one of the busiest drivers in the Mantorp Park pit area.
