Dragster Preview Last year’s Main Event was blessed with perfect weather conditions resulting in a capacity crowd and stunning performances. No fewer than seven European records were set! Top Methanol Dragster put on a stunning show with the European record re-set several times. Young German driver Timo Habermann and first-time TMD pilot Fred Hanssen advanced to the final where Habermann defeated his Norwegian opponent.

Also from Germany comes Peter Schöfer, always quick, and not just at the lights. Other strong-running supercharged methanol-burners include the Scandinavians, Fred Hanssen and Per Ingar Udtian. The nitro-powered A/Fuelers stepped up last year and, with a little more consistency, Dave Wilson could go for another title and Krister Johansson and Derek Flynn for event wins. Finland’s Esko Raisvuo has already obtained some track time at the Easter Thunderball and, after a season of ups and downs last year, could improve and finish among the top five. |
