This year, Pro Stock will have to start without Ålund. His car is still in the States and will be back for Mantorp. But this gives a fresh opportunity to 2009 championship runner-up and winner of the European Finals, Richard Sundblom.
Pro Stock Preview
Last year’s Main Event was blessed with perfect weather conditions resulting in a capacity crowd and stunning performances. In Pro Stock, Jimmy Ålund made history with the first European 6.6-second run. Ålund, already five times European Champion, went straight to the final to beat Jonas Dantanus, and finished the season winning his sixth FIA crown.

However, Michael Malmgren, Michael Callin, Jan Palmqvist and Jonas Dantanus can also improve to be real championship contenders. Harald Sturhan will return with his Mercedes, the only real European car in competition, while Tommy Leindahl will show the crowd his Cobalt’s special new paint-job. Last year the margin between the number one and number eight qualifiers was only a split second. Don’t be surprised if a personal best is necessary to qualify. |
