European Finals 2010

WINNERS FIA Classes

FIA Top Fuel Dragster:
Urs Erbacher (CH)

Team Fat Attack took both the European Championship and the European Finals win AND in addition the team´s bike rider Lorenz Stäuble is the 2010 Super Twin Bike champion!

When we visited Urs in the pit after the final he seemed a bit tired, but very happy.

- The dragster is in one piece and are very happy for that, as we have been running a tight budget this year, where we had to save on parts to the limit. We have had chassis problems over the season, but ME Racing Service in Sweden is checking it before next season. 2011 we start the season in Las Vegas and continue with 3-4 more races over there before we get back to compete in the FIA European Championship
again. Bur first we’re going to celebrate our victory and that we won the FIA European Championship.

We also had a chat with crewmember Martin “Tinu” Pauli who is responsible for the tires and he has never changed tires so often as at this event, meaning the track had the
best surface ever. He changed tires almost after every run, which is not common here in
Europe.

FIA Top Methanol Dragster:

Derek Flynn (ENG)

English driver Derek Flynn, said he has had an "absolutely awesome weekend" after
winning his second event with his A Fuel dragster.
- Derek explained, 'during the test session before the Euro finals, the tyres went
up in smoke again, a problem we have been suffering from, but after some excellent
long distance tuning assistance by our US tuner Jim Rizzoli, we went back to basics and
put in a much milder setup. After Q1 we were number one qualifier and we stepped up
again in Q2. During Q3 we over stepped the mark and lit the tyres again. We have known all year we have a great hot rod and with a little more luck we could have been up there challenging for the Championship. The run in eliminations made a statement that the Gold RV A Fueler was back and on record breaking pace, special thanks to my crew for ensuring the car was ready and very capable every round and of course thanks to everyone of the Santapod crew for the great track and ensured things run smoothly.

Whilst we had a bye in the final the fact we backed up our E1 run of 5.32 @ 270.53
MPH with a stout 5.35 @ 268.9 MPH and secured the new European speed record
, the win also secured 3rd Place in the Championship too. I would like to dedicate this win in memory of Mark Niver. The season is still not quite over for me and some of the team
as we are off to the USA again to compete in the Larry Miersch A Fueler at both the Vegas and Pomona Nationals'.

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car:
Dan Larsen (DEN)

I was running reasonably well even though some things disturbed the action. Problems with pushrods and the ignition system caused problems. Mantorp was OK but Hockenheim was troublesome with the car not running at the pace it should do. We usually never break an engine, but now we had a big wreckage with two piston rods breaking, causing major damage, forcing us to change the engine. With ignition failures the rest of the setup was disturbed, but with that fixed it’s back to basics again.

I’m happy with my win, but I miss Ulf Leanders and Leif Andréasson, who are the top of TMFC in Europe, I would be more proud of my championship win if they were in the competition. I would also like to say that I’m very proud of my hard working skilled and dedicated team.

FIA Pro Modified:
Adam Flamholc (SWE)

sponsored by BILSPORT

Adam Flamholc had a tremendous weekend. After have been struggling al season with
rear axle problems, he solved the problems after Mantorp and with best possible
outcome. Or, what can we say about a new European record at 5.967 sec. in the first elimination run backed up with 5.984 sec in next round. And to end with Flamholc won the Finals 2010. Not bad for a first season in FIA Championship Pro Mod!

- Just awesome! Is the word from Adam when he relaxes in the Lindberg Bros. pit after the race. I’m so happy because we have developed a new concept with the car, and it seems to work just fine. The brand new engine is build from scratch in our own shop, Malmö Motorrenovering. I want to say thank You to all people that have been behind me in this and helped us. Mike Canton and Jimmy Rector helped us with the fuel system. Jim and John Salemi owner of G-Force Racecar that built the car and helped us with the rear axle that broke. Most of all I want to thank my wife and kids that cope with all this and the team that never give up. And also Amalie Oil, Autoshop, Custom
Graphics, ÅF, TURCK, Husby Takplåtslageri and Motorenova.

This winter will be the first without racing in US, as we have done the last three years now. We’re taking time out and this was a so sweet way to end the season. I might go overseas to take a Funny Car license. But first we’re celebrating..

FIA Pro Stock:
Jimmy Ålund (SWE)

Jimmy Ålund defeated Michael Malmgren in the final. I really needed this race win! I see this as a start of the 2011 season. I need to get the number 1 sticker back on the car again. For the 2011 season I’m going to race the same car while doing some work on the engines. Michael Malmgren won the Championship this year and he has been driving real well and consistent all season, he’s a worthy winner of the 2010 championship. But for the season 2011 I’m going to try getting number one back on my car!

Special achievement:
