Flynn claimed the Euro Finals win and set a new European speed record!
The Habermann brothers started this event with a commanding lead as numbers 1 and 2 in the championship and had high hopes of doing the same in qualifying. It was not to be, with Fred Hanssen finding form on the very last qualifying pair of the weekend to take Q1 with a storming 5.335/266.61

Fred Hanssen no.1 qualifier
Timo had to settle for second spot on 5.3562/257.75 while brother Dennis was beset by engine problems and only managed Q7 (5.5296/252.00).
Paul Ingar Udtian, Peter Schöfer and Dave Wilson took 4th, 5th, and 6th respectively. The bump spot went to Krister Johanssen, who was running the incorrect rear end gear ratio after breaking his last remaning set at Hockenheim, who recorded 5.7036/208.17

Johansson on the bump and out in the first round..
In Round One Fred Hanssen was lucky to beat Krister Johansson, who blazed the tyres and lost traction in the A/Fuel car. Fred dropped a valve at half track, the burst panel popped and the blower belt came off. He coasted through to a 6.008/170.44. Peter Schöfer had a holeshot on Dave Wilson, but his 5.4290/262.10 wasn't enough to defeat the power of the A/Fuel car, which powered through with a 5.4052/261.17. Derek Flynn produced the power when it counted, setting a new Personal Best and what could be a new European record speed of 5.3277/270.53 to defeat Paul-Ingar Udtian (5.5484/256.27).

Dennis Habermann took out brother Timo in the first round
The last pairing saw Dennis vs Timo, who was caught napping when the lights went down. Dennis had a 0.4 second holeshot over his brother (who has recorded a perfect light before now) and it was enough to give him the win and potentially make him the new Champion.
The result - 5.4290/253.83 beat 5.3742/260.55
