NRE NOVEMBER 2010 SPEEDGROUP RELEASE (click to enlarge the product photos in this article) NRE Australia (Noonan Race Engineering) is proud to be associated with Speedgroup in its desire to assist the professional European race teams with a robust contingency programme to reward results. The latest technology billet Hemi cylinder head for blown methanol application is primarily designed to deliver real horsepower gains, but with the added bonus that it’s unique features enhance valve train longevity. the NRE - Billet Hemi heads The serious racer wants results from their equipment and like all things in life you ultimately get only what you pay for – quality parts that last the distance with delivered performance are what NRE strives to achieve with the X-1 Hemi Head. In the Euro scene NRE sponsors the Speed Group Contingency Programme in the Pro Mod and Top Methanol classes for those that want to break the mould and run the best with a world-class billet aluminum head that has proven competition in both Australia and the USA. In the Top Doorslammer class in Australia (the equivalent of Euro ProMod), and Top Alcohol (Top Methanol), the country’s fastest cars have NRE heads with the mph records to prove it (Maurice Fabietti & Aaron Hambridge). The nation’s quickest alcohol blown dragster has run a flat 5.50 ET and 257mph with the X-1 heads on board and to date after 60 passes has not had a failure, with valve spring life doubling in the process. Hemi X-1 Heads with Victory Valves The X-1 has a fresh new clean design with features not seen before in a Hemi head including: - Priority Oil feed to rocker stand which significantly reduces galling of pushrods & adjuster tips. This has been a common & constant drain on the small budget teams, but with the unique X1 cylinder heads external oil feed this problem is essentially eliminated. - Intake valve spring oilers reduce the high operating temperatures experienced, resulting in slower spring rate reduction & therefore increased component life. - All current BAE 4/5, 6 and later series suit the X-1, no changing manifolds, headers or rocker stands etc - all designed to go straight onto current combo with minimum fuss. - Port design & extra thickness around integral pushrod tube area – you need to buy a pair to get the ‘inside story’ on this bit! |
Hemi X-1 Heads with Manton Rocker Assembly NRE is constantly working with more R&D and leading componentry manufacturers including Noel Manton in the USA with his billet rocker stand & arms to constantly push the limits with valve train and camshaft testing on the Spintron machine to test the boundaries and beyond with the product. NRE HH X-1 NRE Spintron Testing ProForce Australia’s Mark Brew has worked with NRE in developing more custom features for his customers in Top Doorslammer and Top Alcohol with the heads design team of Jamie Noonan, Joel Binnie and Andrew Collins to get the ultimate horsepower gains coupled with improved harmonics. In the USA, Extreme ProMod ADRL national champion and record holder Frankie ‘Madman’ Taylor runs the X-1 hemi heads and has claimed an outstanding PB of 3.57sec @ 211mph over the eighth mile track. Mike Janis has ran a PB in NHRA ProMod, Will Hannah with the Foster Bros Alky funnycar and a number of others in NHRA/IHRA & ADRL claim to be proud owners of this new-gen cylinder head. NRE will be at this week’s SEMA LasVegas show, the upcoming IPRS show in Indianapolis in November and at PRI on the Manton Products stand in December at PRI – come along and talk to us and see the new release of the A-Fuel AF-X1 head for nitro. The heads now are offered in : Valve sizes: 2.400” Intake / 1.900” NHRA legal Pro Mod. 2.450” Intake / 1.950” 2.480” Intake / 1.950” These can also come with a version with/without an internal fuel-rail distribution and we are always interested in any ‘special-custom’ feature that the customer requests within reason. One piece stainless steel o-rings, valve guides, ductile iron or beryllium inserts, top hats and squirter-jets, fuel rails and ss lines are all made in-house to ensure the highest quality and finish is in every set produced. With over 50 sets now in service around the world NRE are looking for interested distributors in Europe and new customers to call or email us through the Noonan Race Engineering website on or visit us on insidetopalcohol.com as the official sponsors of the classified section. We can ship your heads usually within 25days of ordering direct to your door and offer a servicing/repair service back here in Australia or the USA with a 5-10 day turn-around. NRE developed the X-1 from first drawings, then raw-data machining from specially sourced and certified aerospace quality 6061 billet aluminum to finally turn out a billet head that then had 6 months extensive testing with all types of valve-train products, camshafts to lifters until the first pair were finally ready to go on a competition vehicle in 2009. It's still early days yet, but with the latest production run closing in on 60 sets manufactured it’s a far cry from the 'drawing board to the drag strip', from here we have had the likes of Noel Manton, Al Billes and Les Davenport dyno the heads against the competition and it all proves they make very serious horsepower it's now only a matter of time before someone out there gets the tune-up right and unleashes the full potential. The next step in the development of the series is a 'Z-1' designed version to have ALL the features of the X-1 to accommodate those team's out there that have the US Medlen head with all the accommodating hardware that won’t fit anything else and we know there are several Euro teams out there that are in this predicament so now you have a REAL option coming up! |
