Pro Mod Preview
Johan Lindberg was the (Rock)star of the Main Event. The 27 year old Swede ran a string of 6.04 and 6.01sec passes and suddenly Pro Mod racing looked so simple. But it’s not at all. The competition is tough and, at Alastaro, Mats Eriksson, Andy Robinson and all the others will strike back.
At Santa Pod the Lindberg Bros took everybody by surprise with their ex-John Russo Pontiac Firebird. Fast and consistent is what they were and driver Johan, crewchief Jonnie and the rest of the crew made no mistakes. Now everybody knows what they are capable of, the other teams won’t let that happen again and will do everything they can to beat the ‘New Generation’.

The Santa Pod race made it clear that at least twelve cars can win in Pro Mod. Andy Robinson, Mats Eriksson, Michael Gullqvist, Mikael Lindahl, Bruno Bader, Adam Flamholc, Graham Ellis and three or four other drivers showed their speed but were either too inconsistent or else succumbed to problems. It seems certain that more cars will break the 6-second barrier this season and maybe Alastaro is the place to be. Robert Joosten had bad luck at Santa Pod but, back home, the team found the problem and will do everything they can to show the Pro Dutch ’70 Camaro is a record-setting car. Two Finnish drivers who did not show up at Santa Pod will have their first European race at Alastaro. Tomi Pöntinen and Tami Brander both drive Camaros. What can they achieve at their home track?
