2 x Salakari at Alastaro

UEM Bike rider Jaska Salakari from Finland will make his championship debut for the season at Alastaro. And he will do it in a very rare but grand style entering two championship classes; Top Fuel Bike and Super Twin! The two bikes are the same (but with a new paint scheme) that was in team Salakazi the race season 2009, then with Jaska and Kari Raajala as riders in the Super Twin class. This season Raajala has other commitments and Jaska decided to pilot both bikes himself. He tells the two bikes are very similar and he can class one in Top Fuel Bike as well. Jaska is not the least worried it will be difficult to ride two bikes at the same race for practical reasons. The team will see he has a quick return from the shutdown area after riding one bike, to get on the next one without hassle.

Jaska Salakari´s drag racing career goes back to 1994, it started in Top Gas Harley and he was the first rider in the class outside the US running under 9 seconds. After a few years later Jaska moved on to Top Fuel Bike and passed the 200 mph barrier already in 1998. There has been numerous records set by Jaska in his career since then.

For the 2010 season he plans to double in Super Twin and Top Fuel Bike at Alastaro, the UEM championship round at Mantorp Park Sweden (july 28th-august 1st). If all go well possibly one week later as well at Gardermoen, Norway (august 6th-8th). Preliminary plans also include the European Final at Santa Pod, UK in September (10th-12th).

Team Salakazi have already been out on track on a few occasions this season running the bikes in Finland, at the Motorpark track and at the championship track at Alastaro just a few weeks ago. To the question if they normally "double" and run both bikes during tests as well, Jaska says they don´t have to as both bikes are so similar. "If we find a set up that works for one bike it will work for the other one as well". So far the tests look promising and we are pretty sure many will follow Jaska and team Salakazi with great interest for the forthcoming event at Alastaro July 1-4th.
