After the first day of qualifying, Ulf Ögge was in the number one spot with a great 7.21sec, followed by Anders Abrahamsson at 7.28 and Kenneth Vik at7.34. But it was nothing compared to what happened in the third round of qualifying. Maybe it was the best Pro Stock qualifying session ever seen in Europe. Vik went into the number one spot with a 7.202 at 302.00kph/187.65mph! If he could back up this speed it would be a new European record. The Norwegian did it on the fourth run (299.25kph) to reset Roger Pettersson’s 301.24kph from Hockenheim 2004! But there was more excitement in qualifying session number three. Ögge improved to 7.209, there was a stunning 7.21 for Fredrik Fredlund, Abrahamsson stepped up by 0.05sec to 7.232 and Gert-Jan Laseur improved to 7.34sec but stayed fifth. There were new personal bests for Kalle Lyrén (7.37sec) and Gabriella Nikolovska (7.39sec). With a personal best of 7.38sec (achieved on Friday) Harri Piensalmi stayed in seventh position. The fourth session saw few improvements so the bump spot finished at 7.39, not so long ago good for a top-three qualifying position! Stavros Svrachnos was one of the surprising non-qualifiers. The Greek clocked 7.60sec in the first round but then ran into all manner of problems and found himself back in tenth spot.
