Pro Stock Review
Malmgren did everything right
Many raised their eyebrows when reigning Pro Stock champion Jimmy Ålund showed up as a late entry to the event at Alastaro. As Ålund´s own car was on its way back to Sweden from the US, the ride was borrowed and Jimmy knew the performence would not live up to the standards he has spoiled the audience with for years. A broken rod luckily did not hurt the engine too bad , but without a spare rod to put in Ålund had to park the car after the qualifications. Tough luck for Jimma, who would have preferred some more points and runs at Alastaro, having been racing in the US and being absent during the Main Event leaves Ålund behind in points and our guess is most competitors are eager to make their best to ensure it stays that way.

Pro Stock driver Richard Nixxon Sundblom was out in the sand with his car during one of the runs. Sundblom, number three qualifier with 6.833 was taken out of competition in the semi-final by event winner Micke Malmgren.

Main Event winner Micke Callin, quickest after the qualifications with 6.80 sec, continued to run in the 6.80´s during eliminations, but got too eager on the startline and redlighted in the semi-finals against Palmqvist and the chance for a repeat win for Callin vanished there and then.

Bo Pettersson made his championship debut for the season at Alastaro. Bosse ran 7.10 sec/311 km and was taken out by Micke Malmgren in the quarter finals<
Tommy Leindahl qualified in the 7.0´s but improved big time for the quarter finals. However the 6.88 did not do the job for Tommy as Sundblom was 0.05 seconds ahead of him over the finish line. Great race!

Jan Palmqvist did well and ran consistent throughout the weekend, was on a winning streak, had a good chance in the finals, but hit some shake and lost the win to Malmgren.

The well deserved winner in the Pro Stock category at Alastaro and runner-up at the Main Event in England, Swede Micke Malmgren was very happy with his weekend. Most things went his way and driver and car acted as one in full harmony. Micke´s best performance was a stunning 6.76 sec run at 329 km
