Top Methanol Dragster - Review Round #1 2014
I did not know what to expect from the teams in the Methanol Dragster class in the initial Championship round, as a majority of the entrants did not compete in 2013 and although updates have been made since, that provide no guaranteed success, Drag Racing is just a way to difficult task to handle for anything to be granted..
The fact that the full race day rained off and only three out of four sessions of the qualifications could be completed due to weather conditions is unlucky and beyond anyones control.

So to say I was impressed with the performance of Timo and Dennis Habermann is an understatement. With two completed runs and one aborted Timo managed what was the World´s second quickest ever (!!) ET in a blown-alcohol Dragster. 5.242 sec at a speed of 269 mph. That was the second run off the trailer, his first was also an impressive one (5.31).

Timo´s golden dragster may well be a championship title contender 2014. Knowing the methanol dragsters are decently consistent I have a feeling the performance at Santa Pod will should to be no coincidence and something that can be repeated.

As for Dennis Habermann, he was not far behind. It started with a 5.50 sec run which was tuned and improved to a new personal best at 5.318, which was again improved to 5.314. How about that?!

He made a successful comeback after a year off Drag Racing. Timo Habermann from Germany was low qualifier at Santa Pod..

For 2012 years Champion Monty Bugeja from Malta, the best ET of 5.45 sec. was good for a 3rd posistion in the qualification rankings.

While Chris Polidano managed 5.58 and 5.55 during the two runs he completed. That was good for a number 4 position.

Jonny Lagg

Sweden´s Jonny Lagg, who made his debut the later part of the season 2013 was no. 6 after the completed qualifications with 5.87 sec after two completed runs with smoke from the engine and earky shut off as result the last time.

Dave Wilson

UK´s Dave Wilson on home turf I am guessing was less than content with a best ET of 5.606 sec. Performance improved over the weekend but was "only" good for no 5 spot in the qualification list. However the European Record is still Wilson´s. At least for a while longer.

Timo Habermann´s quickest run clocked 5.242 sec. in the right lane, captured on camera by Remco Scheelings. In the other lane Dennis Habermann clocked 5.318 seconds, which was later improved by a 5.314. What a season start!
