EDRS Report - Close racing at Dragstrip Drachten
Mid July is the traditional date for the Quartermile Internationals at Dragstrip Drachten. Almost perfect conditions this time in Drachten for the second round of the Dutch Open Drag Racing Championship and the EDRS European Drag Racing Series. So, many happy racers and spectators at Holland’s only non-permanent dragstrip, as many runs could be made, good numbers showed up on the score boards and racing was extremely close.
After the rain plagued the first race in June, it was good to see almost perfect sunny weather conditions at the Quartermile Internationals, July 12 - 14. Under the bright sunshine the track was getting better and better during the weekend and on Sunday good numbers and personal bests showed up. At the first race in June only qualifying points could be counted, but this time all qualifying and eliminations could be finished and valuable points earned for the Dutch Open Championship and the EDRS European Drag Racing Series.

Super Pro ET final

International
Highlight was Super Pro ET, were also points were counted for the German Super Pro ET Challenge. Fifteen drivers from four different countries showed up and made it a good show with close racing and fabulous reaction times. German Bert Gorselitz took the number one qualifying position, but was eliminated in the quarter final by Stefan Eisenhauer. In the semi-final Eisenhauer had an almost perfect reaction time of 0,001 second to beat his countryman (and  Gorselitz’s teammate) Rene Kloss by 0,009 second only. In the final the German had to face Tom van der Wijden, who eliminated 17-year-old Shari Oomen in the semi-final. In the final it was Van der Wijden’s turn to pull an almost perfect light (0,002 second), but as Eisenhauer was closer to his index, the win went to the German with a margin of 0,062 second only!
