Karl-Heinz Weikum - Pro Stock Bike
Karl Heinz Weikum from Germany was the winner in Pro Stock Bike at the Sweden Internationals at Tierp Arena June 13th-16th  2013. We let German based editor Markus Münch spread some light about Weikum, who is yet unknown to a bigger audience. And we also let Karl-Heinz introduce himself.
Markus Münch states that Weikums victory was not expected by many and provide some facts about the low profile man, who got the attention he deserved and for all the right reasons at Tierp.

- Karl Heinz has been around the Pro Stock Bike circle for quite some time. He started of in SSB and in his PSB Rookie season 2010 he finished 10th in the European Championship. In 2011 he finished 6th. For the 2012 season he worked hard to get a new Bike ready for competition. He spent several weeks in the United States and build his bike at Paul Gast’s workshop (Fast by Gast). At the first test run in the US the motor was destroyed and his 2012 season was over in PSB.

Karl Heinz decided to run in EDRS Funnybike with his old PSB. He added some Nitrous and raced three Events and finished 4th in the south division. For 2013 he again was in the US to finish his new bike at Fast by Gast. The test runs in Valdosta were again promising. Low 7 second runs were put on the track in spring. After the Bike arrived in Europe he went to Hungary to make some tests and last adjustments in Kunmadaras. Ready for competition he drove to Sweden, the first encounter to the FIM PSB European Championship and the rest is history. The first German Pro Stock Bike rider since Bernd Dietrich who was victorious and absolutely will put some spice in the championship.

So let’s see how Karl Heinz will do for the rest of the season. His killer RT’s will of course help him to be tough to beat.

Karl Heinz comes out of a Dragracing Family. His Brother is competing in Pro ET, SG and SSC with his golden Camaro for ages. His son Leon and nephew are driving in Junior Dragster on a regular basis.

- Currently i have nobody supporting me, says Karl-Heinz and I am really happy to have my two crew members, who are both retired and spend their time to support me at all races. There is Heinz my father in law and my neighbour Heiner.

Some Race History:

In 1982 (age15) i started Motocross on a 125cc Honda but stopped in 1989 because of to much broken bones. I ran in the 125 and later 500cc within one year sidecar trails.

In 1990 we (me and my brother) started dragracing in Streetbike and Public Race Cars. I had lot of fun with my old street bike, I could win some rounds by catching the others at the light. This time i was already inspired by the Pro Stock Bikes.

In 1992 I stopped racing to go to university, but I supported my brother and later on the kids in Junior Dragster all the years untik I started Super Street Bike in 2006. I started in the class because I thought Pro Stock Bike is virtually impossible (costwise) for a privat person.

In 2007 at Gainsville AMA race i met Paul Gast, and we became friends over the next couple of years.

In 2009, after spending big money for blown NOS engines in SSB i decided to try Pro Stock Bike with the first (old Puppet Chassis) rolling chassis I got from Paul. From 2010 I started inquiring about UEM Pro Stock Bike and the rest is history.

I spend lots of time to be prepared for the come back into Pro Stock this year.

It was the plan to do all (4) FIM races this year, and the goal was to be prepared to have good results at the Hockenheim race. I still can not believe what was happen in Tierp.

I expected major problems to get the bike out of the light and down the track because of the new clutch I put on the bike and just tested for 3 runs in Kunmadaras (Hungary). Now in Tierp RT and 60ft was mostly perfect, at the next event in Alastaro (July 4-7th) I will start working on the down track setup to have a perfect bike for Hockenheim as planned!
