Urban Johansson - Pro Modified
At Tierp Arena Pro Modified driver Urban Johansson did what many dream about doing, beat Michael Gullqvist and consistently make 5 second passes and by that now own the record of Pro Modified ET  5.882 seconds!
The two combatants did follow each other during the Sunday’s eliminations when it came to sounds and km/h. Urban did one 6 second round vs Johan Westberg but then he was on the 5 second track again, until the Final vs Michael Gullqvist. And that was a very close race. Urban won at 5,991/385,7 to Gullqvists 5,956/396,2. The team and driver were very happy to reach this goal after been so close the 5 second runs for at least the last couple of years.

-    The first 5 second round we made in the autumn 2011 at Tierp Arena, says Urban. But next spring we broke the new engine we had, so we had to put together another engine from bits and pieces we had, and it did work all right, but was not as fast as we wanted. Last season we did just three Tierp rounds, as the last one rained off, so that season was a bit of a middle one.

The team knew the car was able to run 5 second runs as one was already made and a lot of 6.0 rounds were in the package.
-    We have chosen to take it easy with the tuning, sometimes it can turn the wrong way very quickly, but we learn something new all the time by being careful.

Qualifying - and the score board continued to show low numbers each time Urban Johansson crossed the finish line..

Urban Johansson - Pro Modified winner

The team is and have been working by their own skills all the time and haven’t got any help from   overseas.

-    It’s good and bad to do that, says Urban. But after the EDRS Nationals at Tierp in May we saw that we really were on the right track. We did some small adjustments and the car did answer immediately. This is a sport where you easily can be gone in the adjustment, so you have to be very exact and cautious of what you’re doing.

And of course it was extra nice to do the 5,88 round this weekend and also the computer showed that it was just ok, as there was some discussions about some problems with a photocell at the 5,85 run two years ago.

-    Unfortunately we don’t have the economy to do the whole FIA European Championship this year, says Urban. So we’re not going to next race in Finland.

Instead we go for the Swedish Championship this year and I´m also going to drive Mats Jönssons Corvette 53 TD/PX (Top Doorslammer/Pro Xtreme) at Malmoe Racetrack.  I and the team hope that the consistency will follow us to the next race of course. We will do our best to keep these good times in the car.

The Johansson team was jumping up and down of happiness when the first 5 second round came at during qualifications Saturday afternoon.
