Most of you have already since long been reached about results from the Sweden Internationals, which took place at Tierp Arena Sweden June 13-16th. Through Eurodragster.com live reports, the SMART-TV live web-TV coverage, through press releases and some of you also attended the event live.
In this edition we wrap the Sweden Internationals up class by class for the FIA Championship and bring you a report of what went on in the EDRS classes, where we got to see a few drivers on the podium that have not been frequent in the winners circle before.
The FIM Europe Drag Bike championship had its first event for the season and we have talked with Pro Stock Bike winner Karl-Heinz Weikum in this edition. Top Fuel Bike rider Ian King Gulf Oil Dragracing (UK) managed his first 5 second run, which is a milestone in his 25 year long career and overall the performance level bikes and cars was on a level we have never seen before!
Great to meet Tim Anderson, Racepak and Joe Pando from MSD Ignition on site at Tierp, they came all the way from the US, just to work with teams in need of technical support at Tierp. And JP and the Simpson trackside trailer was appreciated at Tierp no doubt. All three companies are part of the Speedgroup contingency program which offer valuable support for European teams. Read about it in a separate article.
And talking of MSD, I could not resist including this interesting video link I got from Joe Pando, which provide a tour of the MSD factory.(link to movie on youtube). I can guarantee it is interesting!
Five new European Records set in the FIA Championship classes and uncountable new personal bests were set during the Sweden Internationals. I have never seen anything like how this race season have started.
Don´t miss to read about Urban Johansson, who won FIA Pro Modified well deserved, about Thomas Naatas and the Andersen Racing who was also successful at Tierp in Top Fuel Dragster. And about Micke Kågered who operate a circuit racing team beside his drag racing team. Micke is also the driver of all who attends most sponsor activities each year. His team is living proof that corporate partnership works and that drag racing can add value in many ways for business partners.
