Race Report
EDRS Nationals Tierp Arena May 11th-12th 2013

This year EDRS started as last year, at Tierp Arena in Sweden. The spring arrived late this year, which was still noticeable with not that warmth you wish it should be. Many cars is also still left in the garages , waiting for the right parts. Despite a few hours rain and trackdrying on Sunday, the event was as good as it can be at the first race, and the track improved more and more during the weekend.

Fast Freddy Fagerström

Pro Modified:  12 cars qualified with EDRS MD , Micke Gullquist first with  a stunning 5,89 / 397,64 km/h. Yet he was eliminated in the second round by Mattias Vulcan,  in the fastest side-by-side race by PM ever in Europe ? Mattias then  lost the final to qualifier 4 , “Fast” Fredde Fagerström. This was also a part of the Swedish Championship.

Håkan Nordström

Stock/Super Stock :
Third class for the Swedish Championship. “Only” 23 cars this time containing swedes, fins and one driver from Great Britain. Total winner this weekend was Håkan Nordström as top qualifier and winner of the whole event, beating Ari Körkkö in the final.

NEW EDRS CLASS 2013!
Top Doorslammer: One of the new classes for EDRS this year, driving the eight mile in the low 4´s. Norweigian Jan Egil Kvalvik 4,159 /285 before Åke Eliasson 4,201 / 282 in the qualification list. Åke made it all the way to the final, where he beat Michael Joneskog who was No 4 qualifier. First time win for Åke ever, as far as I know.

NEW EDRS CLASS 2013!
Pro Street:
Also a new class for EDRS. Just 5 cars showing up this time, but there is more to come…  Roffe Plahn fastes in the qualifying with a 7,68 / 280 km/h before Seppo Rausi  7.78/298 km/h.  They were also the pair in the final, where Roffe won.

NEW EDRS CLASS 2013!
Street 10,5: The last of the new classes, similar to Pro Street, but with many differences in the chassie and tyres. 3 cars qualified , but also here, we expect more cars during the season. Lars Berglund 7,67 Micael Eriksson 8,43 and Anders Edh 9,07 were the qualifying numbers.  Lars Berglund winning the final over Anders Edh who made a break-out.

Super Comp:  10 cars this weekend with doorslammers and dragsters. Matilda Sjöström- Andersson top qualifier with 8,91 before basketballplayer (?) Albin Frank and Robin Norén.  Matilda did a BO against Robin in the semifinal , who finally took the win over Leif Andersson in the front engine dragster. Noticable in this class is the many new young drivers. Half of them under the age of 25 at this event.

Daniel Jedborn - Comp Eliminator

Amanda Sjöström-Andersson Jr Dragster

Lindgren and Heikkilä - Comp Eliminator

Competition Eliminator:
Also a race for the Swedish Championship. Last year runner-up in the Div. Central, Per Erik Lindgren qualified as no 1 in the 11 car strong field, with all from front engine dragster to doorslammers. He made it all the way to the final, where he was beaten by qualifier No 7, Niklas Heikkilä in the beautiful old T-bird.

Super  Gas: 13 cars on site, which is really a increasing number for this class. Håkan “Strawhatt” Mattsson at the highest position with 9,907 before Jan Rhodin and Annica Larsson (which also have daughter Angelica with her in Super Gas).  Håkan plowing through the eliminationladder, finally beating Gideon “Gidde” Liljegren in the final

Super Street:  Almost filling up a 8-ladder , containing 7 cars this weekend. Simon Gustafsson No 1 qualifier before rookie Marie Wallin, wife of former Pro Stock driver Magnus Wallin. Her very first race ever, made it all the way to the final with their beautiful ´55 Chevy,  loosing against Simon. Well done Marie, and welcome to  Super Street.

Simon Andersson

Jr Dragster:
The last of the classes doubling for the Swedish championship. Surprisingly few contenders, 11 . Simon Andersson first with a 0,0002 sec. reaction time ! Patrik Lind second qualifier. When the elimination had come to an end, it was Simon who won, beating Marcus Back Andersson in the final.

Funny Bike:  4 bikes for the weekend, Rikard Gustafsson in top position with a 6,74 / 275 km/h before Charly Forsberg. Trouble for Rikard though, in the final, leaving it all up to Janne Gustavsson who won with his former Super Twin Top Gas Harley Davidson.

NEW EDRS CLASS 2013!
Super Street Bike: One of two new bike-classes for this season In EDRS. 10 bikes arrived and Björn Friström was fastest in the qualification with 7,565/309 km/h. Just 0,12 s change between 2-5th place. Björn against 2nd qualifier Nils Ola Andersson in the final where Björn took the win.

NEW EDRS CLASS 2013!
