Racepak Yellow Goes Bluetooth

The National Hot Rod Association has granted approval of Bluetooth technology to select Racepak data recorder models.  The usage of Bluetooth technology eliminates the need for the traditional programming cable between the user's PC and the Racepak data recorder, instead relying on a wireless Bluetooth communication link when updating a data recorder with new sensors or programming changes.
"The use of Bluetooth will eliminate the issue of stringing a programming cable from the trailer to the race car, creating a safer and less complicated pit area" commented Todd Paton, Racepak's Pro System and Sales Manager, "while simplifying the process of sending programming changes to the data recorder."

Racepak data loggers currently approved by NHRA for the Bluetooth upgrade include the following models:

- V500SD
- Pro IIIA
- Pro III

The V500SD is Racepak's latest drag race data recorder, providing the ability to input data from multiple external sensors, EFI systems and MSD's PowerGrid, while utilizing a dedicated port for the Racepak SmartWire. This improved design provides expanded channel capability, for the most demanding race car applications.

The Pro III was introduced in 2011 and is used by most Top Fuel and Funny Car teams participating at NHRA Mello Yello Series events. The Pro III features the robust Autosport connectors and the ability to record numerous analog and digital inputs, including ignition timing retard and magneto phasing on dual-magneto ignition systems. The unit also has the ability to record two high-speed channels (20,000 samples/sec) to monitor the output of each ignition coil.

The Pro IIIA is based on the architecture of the Pro III, and is used by Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car competitors using single-magneto ignition systems.
