The Granholm family doubles
The Granholms sisters Johanna and Marita are doubling up the team this season. They recently bought Micke Kågereds two seat or "double" dragster and are also going to race in the Super Comp class. It’s going to be a full season. So everyone who wants to take a ride with Marita or Johanna behind the wheel in the two seater or see them racing is going to have a ball this season.
It started off last year when Marita did some runs at Tierp in Micke Kagereds double dragster. That got her and sister Johanna to go a bit further and their team, Quarter Mile Racing, managed by dad Åke decided to buy the dragster.

Now it has the right colors to fit the rest of the team and the engine is having an update.
-    The plan for us is to drive both cars this summer, say Marita. We are going to drive the double dragster at all Tierp events, says Marita. Then myself and Johanna are sharing the Super Comp car, in which we are going to do all Tierp events as well as following the regional Svealands Cup this year. We haven´t decided who will race the Super Comp car at which races yet, that will be decided during the season.

The double dragster is, at the moment, in parts for control and engine changes. The plan is to get it ready for the EDRS Nationals at Tierp in May 10-11th , where the girls are also going to update their licenses.

Marita Granholm has also been competing in the sports for many years and the last years she has raced the Super Comp Dragster as well as raised a family. Now the next step is set for the three generations racing family.

photo: Johanna Granholm has been a talented driver for many years. At first in the Junior Dragster and then she stepped up to the Super Comp Dragster, and now she´s extending the driving to the double dragster.

-    This season we’re not following the EDRS entirely, more than that we do the races we can fit in, says Marita. We’re not sure if our high bus fits at the Finnish and Norwegian roads so we start off with the smaller series in middle of Sweden at first. And if we see that it works out ok with the double dragster we might extend to other tracks, maybe Kjula and Sundsvall.

The family racing is a big matter in the Granholm family as daddy Åke is crew chief and mother Sussie looks to that all the practical things works out as they should. But there´s two more who are growing in to the sport. Marita has a daughter and a son, that are already pretty sure what the future is going to look like for them.

-    My daughter is 6 years now, tells Marita. And we have stored Johanna’s junior dragster for her. She is pretty sure that in two years she´s going to drive it and the most important thing is, that it has to have the right colors. The same as the big dragsters. The son is one year younger and by the time he turns eight we probably have to buy another dragster. But that’s another story.

So we can look forward to see the Granholm family both racing for trophies and get, whoever wants to feel the kick, feel it with Marita or Johanna at the wheel.

The two seat "double" dragster - If you want a ride, this dragster is available this season at Tierp Arena, with the talented girls Marita or Johanna Granholm behind the wheel. So don’t hesitate, take the chance to enjoy some stunning seconds!
