New tracks for 2013 are Anderstorp, Sweden, Fyresdal in Norway and the Vandel track in Denmark. New to EDRS that is, none one of them are new as ttracks. Vandel though, was earlier a part of the NDRS-series.
Denmarks other track, Mosten Raceway is increasing the number of classes run within the EDRS this year, and the finals for all motorcycle classes will this year be as a “sprint race”, during Mosten Race Day´s 20th year celebration.
Both
Anderstorp and Fyresdal are the tracks, where the sport of drag
racing was started up in Sweden resp. Norway in the 60´s and 70´s. For
this year, Anderstorp is starting out soft, just running Pro ET in EDRS
for a start.
The total numbers of events participating in EDRS
are 26, which means an average of 1,44 events each week. From Piteå
Raceway in the north to Kunmadaras in the south.
In
order to make it easier for drivers in countries, with none or just a
few races, to participate in the EDRS, Speedgroup is launching EDRS
International, which is in operation in addition to the division
points system. In EDRS International, points from the 4 best races
counts and the driver must have participated in at least two events outside his/her home country to be included in this series. Drivers without events in their own country must race in at least two different countries.
There will be no series prizefunds in the EDRS International 2013, but
racing for the coming years starting numbers and the glory, of
course.
Events prize funds are handled by most organizers as stated in the EDRS guidelines.
Other
news for the EDRS 2013 are the new classes just run in Sweden and
Norway as a limited series (just as Pro Modified earlier).
The EDRS European Drag Racing Series is operated by Speedgroup since 2012.
