Adam commit to European Championship Drag Racing 2013
Adam
Flamholc has just announced that he and team not having something
called holiday the upcoming season. And I think most of us are happy to
hear this. Adam is putting up a two-car team for European Championship
this year. He´s shipping back the Top Methanol Funny Car he´s going to
race over here together with the Pro Mod-car. He still got a few ADRL
and NHRA races left over in US, that he going to participate in with
the Pro Mod car. But after Gator Nationals in Gainesville in March he
will also ship back that car to Sweden and Malmoe.
January 22 Adam went overseas to prepare shipping and do some testing.
- I will go over this time to test some new gear equipment’s at US Street Nats, Adam says when we meet him in the beginning of the month. And then load the Funny Car and fill up a container. Then back home for a month and then back to race at Valdosta, Rockingham and Gainsville, and then we load the Pro Mod as well. We have now decided to do a full European Championship this year with both cars. And we also made a deal with Per Erik Lindgren, Piteå that he´s going to take the wheel at the Funny Car for some races over the season. He starts to do some test rounds and to take the licenses and see where that takes him. He probably going to do 3-4 races during the season besides his racing in the Competition car. Last year’s season in US has been tuff but great for Adam. Long travels and hard racing is what it takes to be at the top. - One trip we made started with a flight from Malmoe to race ADRL. We went straight to the strip when we landed, and that was about 850 km driving from airport to Memphis, got three qualifying rounds Friday and Saturday, we made it all the way to the final round, at 23.30 pm where I meet Todd Tutterow, who we lost against. I took him later at Norwalk, says Adam with a smile. Then load the car and drew another 820 km in less than eight hours to race NHRA in Indy US Nats. That race was cancelled the weekend before cause of rain, so now they decided to run it in one day. We where up against Jegg Coughlin in round one. We made a good run, but he drove by us at the top end. Adam and his team got a very good reputation over in US, as they always do whatever it takes to do good racing. Adam is his own tuner at the car and that also something rare as most of the teams have one driver, one tuner and so on. And to do all this up on the long flights and driving they made a good result over the season. - Well, since 2011 when we shipped the car from Sweden until December 2012 we made 18 trips to US, went to 22 different tracks, we made 187 runs, we have been in the Finals four times, qualifying as no 1 a few times. If we got better conditions we probably made a better result, but we’re satisfied so far anyway. We have the knowledge from all the rounds now and I think we have a good opportunity to do a good Championship here in Europe. I hope the tracks here is ok when the season starts. The different between the tracks is not too wide comparing here and US when it comes to the grip. The different is that all the tracks over there have concrete surfers, wish means flatter and more consistent than our tracks. So I hope that the track problems over here going to be solved until the season starts. After the season here we take the Pro Mod back to US but thru an Arabic country. But that’s not settled yet. Looking forward to and exciting season and also welcome Per Erik “Perka” Lindgren in to the team. He´s a very talented driver and has a long experience in drag racing and has won many awards, so I´m very happy to work with him in this project. We caught Adam as he was visiting Emil Nilsén in Bjursås, to test some of his customer’s engines in Emils dyno. Adam is serving customers all over Europe in his well reputed company MMR AB. |
Adam I also want to thank all my sponsors that make this dream of my life come through. It’s just amazing that me and my team can do this. - So please support our Sponsors: Amalie Oil, Hurst Boiler, Autoshop, Cleanpipe, Performance Plus, MMR, JA IT-Hjälp, Custom Graphics, Doyousee.me and Leanders Clutches and please don’t forget to get some of our T-shirts, hats and Sweat-shirts! - Also I would like to say thank you to the everyone in the team, and to my family! Per Erik Per Erik Lindgren is, as Adam said on the way to enter a Top Methanol Funny Car. Very exciting we think. So we let him had a word about his new challenge the upcoming season. - I started racing back in -88 and over the years naturally I have been looking over at "the big boys" side of the pit with the Top Fuelers and the Top Alcohol guys but I always thought that it seemed to be a lot of work in that area, so I sat back and had one more cup of coffee. I have been racing in Competition since -91 and I think it is a very tough class in many aspects but with the years and the success we have had we felt that we needed more challenges. Therefore we ran in two classes this last summer, our Comp Altered and beside that a Chevy in Stock/SuperStock and ended up with one gold and one bronze in the Swedish Championship. It was very hard to adapt your head when changing cars, sounds easy but you drive much on reflexes and you have to control the reflexes and that is not easy. I remember especially in Sundsvall when we went all the way to the final in both classes, I had to jump out of one car on the return road and run to the other that was lined up, who says drag racing is not physical?? When the season ended we talked together my big team, Mary-Sissel Eilertsen, Tomas Eriksson and me, we all thought it had been tough but very funny too. Somewhere here my good friend Adam Flamholc called and offered me a seat in an ex-Frank Manzo MonteCarlo funny car, I instantly said -No way! But as we talked and he told me how he had planned the whole deal I thought -You wanted a new challenge, don´t be a coward and hide in the closet, go for it and try!! I have always admired Adam and his courage to live his dream, everybody involved in European drag racing knows that what Adam says he will do, he does. So now it is my turn to live the dream, the tricky part is that I have never driven such a violent car but I have had a YouTube training camp over the winter so I hope I will survive the first warm-up anyway, if I do we will take it from there. I would like to thank Adam and his team, Amalie oil, Cleanpipe, Hurst boilers, Autoshop, JA IT-Hjälp, MMR, Doyousee.me, Custom Graphics, Leanders cluches that made this happen. Thanks to my friends at Burlink, Regus, SCA Packaging, Sesemic, Bergs maskin, Piteå verktygs, Piteå presenterar which are with me in thick and thin!! If You want to see “Perka” trying out the Funny Car You can see him at Malmoe Raceway, Tierp Arena (not the FIA races), Sundsvall Raceway and maybe Gardermoen. Down below You find the schedule for Flamholc/Lindgren team this season. Last season "Perka" had a good season in a Stock/ Super Stock car. He ended up as second runner up in Swedish Championship in this car. Now he´s changing car to the Top Methanol Funny Car and we wish him luck. |
