NitrOlympX 2013 - Top Methanol Funny Car Review
Success for Lindberg at Hockenheim
Seven drivers on site at Hockenheim. Danny Bellio and Jürgen Nagel was back in FIA competition, Nagel was at Santa Pod in May, while Bellio made his first championship appearance for the season.

First round out out of four qualifications sessions it was Leif Andreasson who took the lead running a fine 5,65 sec at a a speed of  405 km. Leif and Adam Flamholc was the only ones running in the 5 second range during that session, which is not so surprising as the HockenheimRing´s repaved track was a blank sheet for all teams. But to round #2  datas had been evaluated and changes in setups made and the performance by the end of the session had improved and the five cars running quickest ranged fom 5,62 sec (top ranked Ulf Leanders) - 5,73 (Flamholc in 5th).

By round #3 Jonnie Lindberg had got the hang of it and he took the no.1 spot in the qualification list, with Leanders now in second and Andreasson 3rd. Johan Lindberg made his first appearance on track during the 3rd session and put down a 5,69 sec time which was good for spot number five.

After completing the 4th and last qualification session the final rankings was as follows:

1. Jonnie Lindberg 5.621 sec / 419 km
2. Ulf Leanders 5.623 sec / 417 km
3. Johan Lindberg 5.633 sec/ 412 km
4. Leif Andreasson 5.658 sec/ 405 km
5. Adam Flamholc 5.672 sec/ 410 km
6. Jürgen Nagel 5.011 sec/375 km
7.  Danny Bellio 7.097 sec/275 km

ELIMINATIONS:

In round one Jonnie Lindberg as low qualifier had a bye run which he used well to run 5,74 sec. His opponent in the semi-finals was to be the winner between Leif Andreasson and Adam Flamholc, a run that ended in Flamholcs favour. Winning time 5,78 to Anderassons 6,56

On the other side of the ladder Johan Lindberg outran Jürgen Nagel. Lindberg´s 5,64 was an impressive start of the competition. And in the semi-finals Johan got to take on Ulf Leanders who had won the first round over Danny Bellio. Leanders ET a fine 5,64 sec at a speed of 417 km

At this point both Jonnie and Johan Lindberg was still in the game, but not for long as Jonnie lost his semi-final against Flamholc. Johan Lindberg continued to perform steady and  could not be stopped. Not by Ulf Leanders in the semi final and not by Adam Flamholc altough the final was tight. Flamholc had the better reaction time but Johans 5,622 against Adams 5,783 was enough to take the win. Amazing to see the level of performance from the teams in the class repeat event after event, so also at Hockenheim.

CHAMPIONSHIP RANKINGS:

Leaving Hockenheim there has been a switch in order (again) at the top and we now have Adam Flamholc in championship points lead with two events remaining at 283 points, followed by Johan Lindberg 278 and in third position Jonnie Lindberg also at 278. Leif Andreasson who had the lead before the event is in 4th place  and still with a chance on the title

One round is worth 20 points and qualification points are at stake. Just like before Hockenheim this is a championship that is wide open!
