Top Methanol Dragster Review
Sweden Internationals
Who would have thought that the small island of Malta could contribute with two of the quickest Top Methanol Dragster teams for the season 2012.. While one took the win at Santa Pod three weeks ago the other went after the win at Tierp Arena..

The small island of Malta in the Mediterranean sea has really taken a place on the FIA European Championship scene. The same thing goes for the concept of running cars on Nitro without superchargers as an alternative to the supercharged methanol engines.

It was however Maltese Monty Bugeja in a supercharged who was taking number one position in qualification, running faster than 5.3 seconds scoring a 5,297 / 428,23 km/h, followed by Main Event winner: Britton Dave Wilson on a 5,361 / 428,91 km/h followed by German Timo Habermann and other Maltese driver Christopher Pollidano in fourth place.

With second day of qualification rained out and another rain stopping racing on Sunday morning, there was doubts there was going to be any eliminations at all. The rain did stop, the track was dried and all FIA and UEM classes could complete all their running, putting on some spectacular racing doing so.

In the first round of elimination Manty Bugeja was running 5.525 / 421.88 taking out Esko Raivuo 6.888 / 361.20 Fellow Maltese, Chris Polidano ran 5.336 / 427.55 to defeat Dennis Habermann’s 5.358 / 423.20 a great race with Cris crossing the finish line first. Englands Dave Wilson posted a great 5.372 / 427.22 to win over Krister Johansson’s 5.768 / 397.64 Finally in first round we had an all German race with Peter Schöfer 5.405 / 418.28 defeated Timo Habermann 5.533 / 418.93

Semifinals started with Malta vs Malta, Chris Polidano 5.700 / 413.16 def. Manty Bugeja 17.273 / 78.36 Chris with cylinders not fiering and Manty losing tracktion early drifting sideways decided to coast down the track sending Chris to the finals. An outstanding run by Dave Wilson 5.260 / 435.13 defeated a foul starting Peter Schöfer 6.1850/290.95 A new European quickest time sent Dave to the Finals.

The final was run with longtime racer vs a rookie, both in injected-nitro cars Chris Polidano won the race 6.320 / 359.76 to Dave Wilson 21.473 / 53.43 both drivers lost tracktion, Dave spun on the startline tried once more and then gave it up Chris lost tracktion a bit further out and could take the car to the finish line a bit quicker.

With two finals in a row Dave Wilson walks away as points leader followed by the two Maltese drivers Monty Bugeja and Chris Polidano. Will Dave keep his points lead after next race at Alastaro Finland or will there be a Maltese leader instead?
