Top Fuel Bike Review
Sweden Internationals
The Top Fuel Bike class is not the strongest in the UEM Drag Bike Championship when counting the number of contestants.. but when it comes to the level of the performance, a specific top trio active in the class hold absolute world class..
We are thinking of Peter Svensson who at the Sweden International set a new ET record and was low qualifier with 5.92 sec at a speed of 324 km/h (on a bike!)

Ian King has since he started racing his new Puma Engineering Gulf Oil sponsored bike 2011 taken one step at a time to get used to the new bike, adjust and increase the level of performance gradually. At Tierp Arena during the Sweden Internationals King and took a major step forward and ran a fantastic 6.10 sec in the semi.final against Rikard Gustafsson.

Gustafsson is probably the worlds most consistent and quick Funny Bike rider. His bike shall not have capacity to run the numbers King and Svensson do, but nevertheless Gustafsson is well in the game and his consistency can win him rounds this season, which is the first he can compete in as well EDRS Funny Bike as UEM Top Fuel Bike. Gustafsson qualified with a modest 8.12 sec (however two sessions was cancelled from the qualifications due to rain)

Peter Ström-Andersson from Sweden qualified 4th quickest but was a no show for the first round of eliminations

The score boards did not lie.. and Peter Svenssons new European record ET  was backed up by a 5.826 sec run (!) Simply amazing!

Nils Lagerlöf is the second rider in Funny Bike who has performed under 6.99 sec and is allowed in the Top Fuel Bike class. He qualified quicker than Gustafsson this time and was to meet Peter Ström-Andersson in the first round of eliminations. Peter however withdrew from the eliminations and Lagerlöf enjoyed a bye run to start off the eliminations. In the semi-finals where he was to meet Svensson Lagerlöf was a no show. Svensson with nothing to loose went for it, but drifted towards the center and shut off early.

Ian Kings way to the finals went through a win over Rikard Gustafsson (who rolled through stage before the tree was activated and with that was disqualified). King 6.61 sec during that pass, onto the semi-final which was a bye run and THE run where the new personal best of 6.103 sec (at 360 km/h) was set. Well done Ian King and crew!

In the final between Peter Svensson set the low ET and personal best of 5.827 sec at 370 km/h over the finish line. King behind shut of  before the full distance. King however walked away with a the new personal best ET and a place on the podium. Well done both teams!

And still in points lead after two rounds Ian King 150  points before Peter Svensson 90 and  Rickard Gustafsson 85. Max 5 of the 6 championship rounds are allowed to be counted this season. For the full points standings please check under a separate headline!
