Team report VEIDEC Racing Pro Stock Bike Team - Kalle Lyrén and Elvira Karlsson
The 2011 season ended in a good, almost perfect way.  At the final race of the season, the European Finals at Santa Pod, Karl managed to go all the way to the final!! Also he set a personal best of the year 7,19 sec. which was a very good way to end this season. Our goals for 2011 was to end top 4, Karl was in 3 finals total over the year, which was fantastic keeping in mind we had built a new bike for 2011. A new Hayabusa, the only one built running outside USA and still he managed to take the no 3 position in the UEM Drag Bike Championship! So we are very happy.

So when does the 2012 season start? For us it is already on the way back from the European Finals sept-2011, You will not get more time if you wait and do things later, all you do is to loose time, sense there are no "short cuts" in Racing!!
Anyway we decided to have one week off, and after that make a good plan for the next 7 month until the first test/ race of the season. We took the bus to Robert Karlsson at TEISAB to rebuild it and make it more practical to fit more parts, people and become a little nicer, sense you spend LOTS of hours in the bus travelling and living through a full season.
We did split the whole bike and went with the frame to UCC, who initially built the frame. We wanted to make it a little lighter and move around some stuff on the bike to make it easier to work with. And also move around some weight, hopefully to make it even better. We also had some molds done for a new carbon air box, thanks to Kenneth at SWECOMPOSITE.
Overall most things was rolling on directly step by step..  We also fitted the new ÖHLINS front fork, made new fork clamps, radial brakes and fitted a new steering damper. Karl has made all wiring, electronics new to make it easier to work with, so even if we built a new bike for 2011 we have done lot of changes to it.
I made a parts list to Vance & Hines for all engine parts and parts to build a spare engine. And a plan to have all that we need in good time before the season starts, for instance team shirts needed to be ordered, hotels booked, rental cars,  flights, ferries +++ a lot more.

Elvira Karlsson runs in the same team as Kalle Lyrén 2012. They together with the biggest crew in the class form the VEIDEC Racing Pro Stock Bike team. We wish them the best of luck for the race season!

Roger Lyrén assist son Kalle at the start area as always before each run

We booked a test for USA in good time and rented Valdosta SGM and two bikes for two days at the end of February. The intention was to get some seat time both for Karl and Elvira, it is always good to get some seat time in the winter, Karl has spent many hours at the gym, Elvira also started her exercise program to build some muscles and to be in good shape when the season starts. Many thanks to George Bryce for rental of the Frank Hawley School bikes!

We had some of our partners already secured for 2012 before the 2011 season was over, so that was a big help. We joined up together with Robert Karlsson (Elvira Karlsson´s dad) and took them in under the VEIDEC Racing  umbrella so Karl and Elvira will be running in the same team 2012. We will have some new partners and also a lot more hospitality and VIP at the events this year. That is one of the most important things in today's racing, VERY FEW companies pay anything for stickers, and if they do that I refer to them as sponsors. We mostly however work with Partners and that is not only a sticker, because what are you selling?  You can NEVER guarantee a result, so you must make sure they get payback for their investment, with the hospitality we also can get lot more new people to the events who can be bigger partners for the team, series or event partners.

Even if you spend time to make a good plan, now it is April and there still is LOTS to do. We had a kick off for the team two weeks ago just to give the extra energy that the all crew need to prepare for a season. We need all our crew to work towards the same goal, it´s like a football team!! You know when you live 12-14 people together for  4-5 days so close as you do, your personal belongings is in a bag, you have your bed, all other space you share with other crew, that is all. This close as you live with your team, you almost not even do at home with your family.

We all invest more than  7000+ hours together just at the Championship events,  we spend 1500 hours in the workshop and office to make all this happen and in the end with the two bikes we have about 13 minutes run time!!!!!!, THIS IS TRUE PASSION, OUR TEAM MEMBERS ARE EVERYTHING, without them this would never be possible.

With two of the youngest riders ( Karl Lyrén 24 and Elvira Karlsson 17) running in the European  Championship it will be an interesting season. I am sure and know competitors have been preparing for the season and will be ready for a challenge in 2012, but we are also as ready as we can be. You never know of course as in Racing EVERYTHING can happen, just in a blink of a second all can turn around and you stand there with a broken engine, your bus breaks or anything else, but THAT IS RACING all can happen. You know for every win you have, you come closer to your next loss, and for every  loss, you come closer to your next win.....
Can't wait to the season to start, 6 races to go, see you all at the track!!!!!

I want to thank Rickard Pålsson from VEIDEC for excellent support as main Partner and all of our other partners  Parts Europe, Drag Specialties, Vance&Hines, Bellimo, K&N, ICON,BATES,
Bemå Lyft,Öhlins, Star Racing, Papyrus,Teisab, M&M, Caravan, Mats/Carina, Lack&Mek, ++ many more!!!

And of course again all our Crew because without them there will be no racing!!, Stefan, Mia, Malin, Eva,Pål, Atle,Robban, Forra, Sara, Jessica, ++++ many others.
