Speedgroup - On the Agenda
by Åsa Kinnemar
co-ordinator Speedgroup April 18th 2012.. Another month has passed since the last newsletter. In
March and up until the beginning of April, just like the months
before, we attended a lot of meetings. With teams, organizers, in
smaller and bigger projects and work groups to discuss specific or general
matters connected to European drag racing.
During the remaining period until the EDRS Nationals at Tierp Arena mid-May many hours will be spent on planning and preparing for the tasks we have on hand when we move from "office mode" to "track mode". One of Speedgroup´s most important tasks is communication - towards teams, organizers, media, spectators, officials and corporate partners. We set standards and routines for ourselves to make communication work, of course it never does 100% of the time, there are just too few hours on the day this time of year. Maybe You recognize the same phenomena? But we try to take it in steps, develop and adjust. And so also for this season. There are a few new concepts and communication platforms we will work with that we think will make a difference. At the moment a lot is about who does what, when, where and how (and not least why?).. WWW.DRAGRACING.EU in operation One of the new communication- and administration platforms has been developed by Swedish time keeping system- and software developer Nitroz in co-operation with Speedgroup. It is a database system which we feel will take event entry, event administration and results data reporting to the next level. It is in operation since mid-March and currently open for FIA and UEM Championship registration as well as Event entry to for instance Tierp Arenas May through August events. Tracks and events are added continuously and the system currently already include 325 active drivers & riders! Tierp Arena Event manager Emelie Carlswärd has been the test pilot for the www.dragracing.eu event entry system as an organizer and she has after that written step by step manuals for as well teams as other organizers to help the adoption of the system run as smooth as possible. God job Emelie! CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT GUIDELINES Over the last year we have had three live meetings where all FIA and UEM organizers, Speedgroup and FIA, UEM Representatives have gone through feedback from within the group and from other sources such as teams active in the championships. The outcome is a document called the Championship Event Guidlines 2012, which we are just going through the final stages with before it can be released. The purpose of this document is to standardize procedures at events in the European Drag Racing Championships. The goal is to achieve a defined and professional environment that is familiar to teams, organizers and stewards of the events. The document will be available from the beginning of May. A lot of efforts was put in by all participants at the last organizers meeting we had in Stockholm March 31st-April 1st, all in order to make this a useful and valid document for the good of all parties involved and the championships! Stay tuned for more on that.. |
