Drag Race Vereniging eXplosion is the Dutch  KNAF (Dutch Motorsports Federation) and KNMV licenced drag race organisation. The organisation is run by volunteers spending many hours to bring the sport to the next level in Holland. When they heard about the EDRS European Drag Racing Series eXplosion was almost the first drag race organisation to support this new series as a welcome addition to their already established Dutch Open Championship at Dragstrip Drachten.

“We are very happy with the EDRS European Drag Racing Series. From the first meeting we had at the European Finals at Santa Pod everybody in our club was very enthusiastic. We immediately decided to join and support the EDRS European Drag Racing Series and to sign up for the series with our three races at Dragstrip Drachten. This can bring Dutch and European drag racing to the next level.

With the Dutch Open Championship we already attract many foreign competitors, especially from Germany. But still our Dutch racers always see the same opponents. With the EDRS European Drag Racing Series we hope to attract new competitors from other countries too.



Drachten is a great track and English and Scandinavian racers will be surprised about the air quality and traction of our strip. For Dutch racers the EDRS European Drag Racing Series is a great chance to face tougher competition but also a good reason to race abroad and not Drachten only.

The FIA/UEM championship organizers and tracks are normally featured under the "Talking with the organizer" articles in the preview editions before their championship events, but will before that be featured at the Speedgroup websites. 

We are really looking forward to our first EDRS season. Of course we are disappointed about the fact that Santa Pod and Hockenheim* are not in the EDRS European Drag Racing Series. That makes it difficult for racers in Division South to do five races without much travelling. But I know Speedgroup does everything they can to solve this problem”, says Jaap Selles, spokesman and chairman of eXplosion.

* HockenheimRing supports the Funny Bike class within the EDRS Series concept, the rest of the sportsman classes are operated at the NitrOlypmx event as non-EDRS classes. Santa Pod Raceway is not part of the EDRS European Drag Racing Series 2012, but host two FIA and UEM Championship rounds, while HockenheimRing host one (the NitrOlympx) The Championship Race Calendar is presented at separate pages in this newsletter



With so many years of experience it’s no surprise preparation for the 2012 races is on schedule. “Like last year XpoEvents is the promoter again. Erwin Raets, a familiar face in drag racing as he was crewmember in Danny Bellio’s team and organiser of the race at Brustem (Belgium) in 2010, will be the new driving force behind XpoEvents”, says Jaap.
