Stefan Verdi founded Auto Verdi in 1988
and
the operation was all about connecting rods until in 1995 when Verdi
and Steen Skodborg decided to join forces. While Verdi specialized in
connecting rods, Skodborg´s area of expertize was oil pumps.
The
Auto Verdi dry sump system oil pumps nowadays are on all the winning
cars in as well NASCAR as NHRA Pro Stock Racing. Back then in the mid
1990´s it took years of persistent marketing efforts, spending of
countless hours on telephone calls and networking to get and get a
solid base of customers in the US. Some said before they switched that
they were content with the supplier they used already, but once a
new customer tested the Auto Verdi solutions , they was
hooked..
Stefan Verdi explains that while some other
manufacturers tend to develop products and cure malfunctions by
adding components to existing designs, the Auto Verdi pumps
contain fewer, but technically more advanced components.
The strength of Auto Verdi also lies in the solid
Swedish constructions which include a very high level of
precision.
The Auto Verdi oil pumps are reliable and easy to
service. Stefan Verdi tells that in the US it is their retailer and
partner Jarmo Pulkkinen who handles the repair and service part, while
in Sweden Auto Verdi themselves assist teams, although says Stefan
Verdi, teams generally have good knowledge themselves to perform
service.
Auto Verdi produce on demand to a major extent although
they keep stock of products they know are in high demand. Stefan
tells that most are custom made solutions that differ between the
customers/teams, also when it comes to Drag Racing.

To
the question if Auto Verdi have plans in pipeline for new products,
Stefan Verdi answers that they will continue to focus on their existing
products and develop services and products round them rather
than adding new products to their line. As they have their hands full
and sales in the US increased by 10% last year despite the
difficult financial climate, staying the best at what they do rather
than expanding into new fields seem like a wise way of thinking.
The
final question to Stefan Verdi for this time is whether plans to attend
any of the Swedish Championship events at Tierp Arena this season. He
answers that he caertainly planning for it and is also looking to
arrange a day at the track for the Auto Verdi employees, and have them
enjoy Drag Racing at the highest European level. We are sure some of
Auto Verdis existing customers in co operation with Speedgroup will be
happy to assist in making the visit to the track a special one!

The
Connecting rod production unit moved to new facilities during the
autumn 2011. Stefan Verdi commented that 140 tonnes of machinery and
equipment had to be moved which was quite exhausting, It took two
months of full time work for him and a few collegues, but it is all in
the past now and was well worth the effort!
