No record for Peter Svensson
Peter Svensson is one of fastest bike competitors in the world and he had hoped to set some records at Hockenheimring last weekend. But that was not an option this year. Now he and the team instead prepare for Tierp Arena to make a new try.

-    First of all I don’t want to put more “salt in the wound” after the weekend at Hockenheim, too many have already done that. But it´s clear that a way better collaboration has to get set for all involved partners. Where everyone is having the same goal, that SAFETY for drivers has to be promoted at all times. The coherence between FIA and UEM has to be improved and some kind of conditions has to be set up for the track. A week or more before a race there has to be a coefficient of friction test of the whole track, to avoid such problem that appeared in Hockenheim. The alternative is that one team has the responsibility of the track preparation at all Championship tracks in Europe, similar like NHRA has in the US. Hockenheim has always had a special atmosphere and it has been a great track for new records for us. But before we have any kind of warranty that the track is ok or has the same conditions as before, we consider if we will got to Hockeheim next year. It´s cost us too much money, says Sören Svensson crew chief and brother to Peter.

Now the upcoming race is at Tierp Arena, how are you all preparing?

-    We have now overhauled the engine and clutch, like usual before every race and made some small measures. Nothing else than very exhausted clutch discs was noted and that all has to do with the settings that had to be done before last race. Otherwise we go for the same settings as we used last race at Tierp in June, push it a bit forward for trying to make a little better time than our 5.82 last times there. And of course we are going for a new European record. So if the weather let us and if the track is what Leif Andre´asson promises, there will be good conditions to go really fast.

We do hope for the best for Peter and team STARTA at Tierp Arena. And it would be great to see a new record set for Top Fuel Bike.

But what´s the future plans? We know you’re in the Swedish National Team that SVEMO (the Swedish ASN) has put up for the World Tour. What’s new about this?
-    Yes, as most of you may know we had plans to go to Valdosa in November to race in the Manufacterers Cup and tussle with the best team in the world and by the same conditions. We have great hope that the SVEMO National Team investment will help us get the sponsorship we need to get there. But today nothing is set and no contracts are signed and time is running out.  If we don’t have any secured sponsors before the end of this month we may have to cancel the planed US trip.

Thanks a lot for Your time Sören and we wish you good luck the upcoming weekend!
