Dennis & Timo Habermann - FIA Top Methanol Dragster
Habermann Bros. takes a breath and prepare for Hockenheim. Editor Lena Perés interviewed Timo Haberman soon after the FHRA Nitro Nationals and brings us a report about the Habermann´s experience at Alastaro and looking forward towards the NitrOlympX..
The Habermanns are a great family team which improves performance for every event. So also at the Nitro Nats at Alastaro track in Finland. The brothers were supposed to meet in the semifinal. But Dennis got problems with the parachutes, in the first round vs. Chris Polidano, and ended up in the sand bank behind the finish line. No harm to either Dennis or the dragster, luckily. But the dragster was covered with sand so the time to clean to next round vs. Timo was just to forget. The team put full effort to get Timo in the final vs. Monty Bugeja for a win. But that final rained away as all the other finals this weekend.

The plans for the brothers were of course to make the cars as fast and consistent.
-    But the track was difficult to work with this weekend, says Timo. I had some terrible tire shakes at my car and had to change a lot at the setups. We needed to take power out because of the mixed track conditions.

What happed to Dennis was scary, but what did cause it?

-     The most important thing is that Dennis was OK. And the Dragster was only full of sand and there were no damages at all. I was directly in the next pairing lane and was standing just behind Dennis and I saw he won that run but I also saw that his parachutes didn't come out. All our Crew was happy because Dennis won and they came to me to fire up my car. I showed them that Dennis has troubles and at that moment you only saw a big cloud of smoke! It was a good feeling to hear that Dennis was OK. So I was up next in the first round of eliminations against Wilson. My concentration was gone because I was thinking on 1000 things... But just after the burnout, Dennis jumped over the guardrail and showed me he is all right and I was 100% back in my game and I won it.

What was the best of the Alastaro weekend?
-    That we kicked out the A-Fuel Cars!

What are your preparations for Hockenheim?

-    Hockenheim is our home track and everybody shows up there like our sponsors, family, friends and fans. So that means that we are very busy on the weekend. Else we make our normal service on both cars that we do it after every race to make sure everything is OK.

And what else do you want to tell the readers about the team?

-    We want to say a BIG thank you to the FHRA Track and Safety Crew that took care of Dennis when he went to the sand, our sponsors Höfler Fenster, UNI FIT, Fuchs Oil, Exide Batteries, My Baby Shop and to our Mom and Dad. A Big thank you to our fantastic crew who worked great again at both cars and to all our fans and friends!

Part of the Habermann crew - Yasin Özer (to the right) is also involved in the time keeping questions at HockenheimRing as a consultant and will we assume be a busy man at the forthcoming NitrOlympX!

Mother Heidi with team, happy that Dennis was OK after his dramatically ending in the sand trap at Alastaro. It’s not easy to be a mother sometimes in this sport.

Dennis have just made his burnout and the usual "last second" preparations to the car take place
by dad Werner. A good crowd is watching at the Alastaro FHRA Nitro Nationals

Dad Werner Habermann is the man Dennis trust to guide him
into the pre-stage position. Cleaning the tires from excessive rubber after the burnout is common among the dragster teams
