Under the NDRS Drag Racing Series sportsman umbrella no
category features more variety than the "Competition eliminator" class,
here you find dragsters, altereds, coupes, sedans, front-engine nostalgia
dragsters and trucks.
The engine combinations are just as diverse as the vehicles, from turbocharged
four-six-eight cylinder engines to normally aspirated hightech engines in
a range from around 100 ci up to 800+ cubic inches, also supercharged
engines and nitros oxide equipped engines in various sizes are part of the
class variety.
There are fiftyfour subclasses in which you can
compete, for every subclass you have a formula based on total car weight
divided with engine size, the subclass identity is the letter combination
on the side of the car (ex CT/A followed by the start
number.)
Each subclass runs against an index, initially based on how
fast a well built car is supposed to run, the difference between the two
cars indexes creates the handicap start, the first car over the finish
line is always the winner as long as he/she has not redlit, you can never
breakout.
You
can hurt your index though, if you run more than ,50 under in eliminations
you get a personal index change at the event with as much you drove
beyond, example; you go in A/D with 7,60 index and you go 7,05 in the next
round you lose ,05 so your index will be 7,55, so it will cost you to
instantly in this actual elimination.
