European Record holder Ulf Leanders have the car back on European ground after a session over the winter in the US. Leanders and Andréasson was missing in the championship 2010 something the class suffered from showing weak numbers of contestants.

But that was then and this is now. New year and new circumstances. The entry list show a full ladder and some teams will be entering in addition for round #2 in Sweden, for instance Jonas Staflund and Leif Andréasson.

2010 champion Dan Larsen will not be entering, the team may join the championship later on limited budget


Rob Turner will be on his home track at Santa Pod. After many years in methanol dragster team Turner made the switch to funny car in 2010 while keeping the dragster. Now they have become familiar with the class and can maybe start chasing championship event wins!

Performance in this class should be in the 5-second range. Leanders record read 5.66 sec Some other drivers entered at the Main Event that have also produced great numbers include


Arvid Grödem from Norway who have produced a personal best of 5.80 sec/395 km/h


Danny Bellio from Belgium can run as quick as 5.77 sec/400 km/h

Jarmo Kuutniemi from Finland has a personal best of 5.79 sec at 367 km/h

Altough we must admit on paper Ulf Leanders look like a strong candidate for the event win this time, this is drag racing and the fact is that on most classes it is rarely th no.1 qualifier that wins the race.

Consistency and drivers focus are key ingredients. All entered teams have the capability, the question is just who will set the standard and what performance level will be needed to stay ahead this time. On bank holiday monday May 30th we will know.
