Super Twin Preview Main Event
With 15 entered teams from 8 nations at the Main Event the Super Twin class is the most international and competitive UEM drag bike class at the moment. They compete for a place in an 8 bike ladder, meaning almost half the field will be left out from monday´s eliminations.
The leader in points entering the Main Event is the youngest rider in the class, Jan Sturla Hegré from Norway. With a skilled team and mentor in Svein Olav Rolfstad, Jan Sturla entered the class in 2010 and the team let him learn an develop at his own pace. A smart rider, who seems to be very aware and able to adjust his technique to new track conditions. That, he showed in Hungary and it contributed to the event win .

Hans Olav Olstad was among the top contenders 2010 and started his season 2011 with a runner-up place in Hungary

Hans Olav Olstad

Prominent non-European guest rider..
We feel we need to mention rider Mark Ashelford from Australia, who has shipped his bike and tried the track at Gardermoen during a national event May 14-15th. Ashelford is not on the entry list for the Main Event but we are sue we will have reasons to come back to him in another edition.

Champion 2010 - Lorenz Stäuble from Switzerland

The 2010 champion Lorenz Stäuble is behind in points, as are many of the other riders with event and championship title potential. Per Bengtsson Sweden for instance, whose track record tells he is the quickest of the entered riders with 6.473 sec/338 km (closely followed by Stäuble).

We are certain there will be a number of new personal records set in the Super Twin class this season. And as there is absolutely no candidate for the championship title that feels more certain to guess for than any other, this class is going to be extremely interesting to watch and follow.

Well experienced rider Christain Jäger from Germany made the move from the UEM funny bike class to Super Twin for 2011 and although he and the team is still learning the bike we expect he may be a rider to count with already this season.

At last years Main Event the difference between no.1 and 8 qualifier was one second. That is a lot in drag racing and our guess is it will be less this time, as most teams have been out on track for one or two events and/or testing already. Stäuble took the Main Event win 2010 running consistent in the 6.60-sec range. It will be interesting to see where the class stand performancewise this time.
