Pro Stock Bike Preview Main Event
16 competitors from 7 countries are entered for the Main Event in Pro Stock Bike. At Santa Pod, the Pro Stock Bike class is run a 16 bike elimination ladder, leaving no team out by the looks of the entry list
A fresh European record has already been set at the Santa Pod track this year. Dave Beck got it together during the Easter Thunderball running 7.067 sec/302.91 km (188.25 mph). By that he proved his previous record from the European Finals 2009 was no coincidence. Beck has since then not been close to repeating and struggled last season with a new bike, knew the potential but was frustrated not to get it out. Well, now he has and the record is for him to keep and for all the others to chase.

Jesper Thiel is after the record for sure and almost managed to touch it only a week after Beck, Thiel then at the Kunmadaras track in Hungary. The Danish rider who was already a strong contender in 2010 (his first year in the class) has proven he might well be the next man to win the Pro Stock Bike Championship title.

And to Thiels help he has well reputed Tom Tinndahn. Tom, who has won titles himself but now spend his time off the bike helping a few riders by contributing both hand on and  with knowledge. 2010 he contributed to Ulf Ögges success and for 2011 focus mainly on team Sovereign, which include Jesper Thiel and rookie Rasmus Olesen, both from Denmark.

Kalle Lyrén did well in Hungary during round #1 - runner-up and a new personal record of 7.21/298 km was a great start to his championship season 2011.

Ulf Ögge - European Pro Stock Bike Champion 2010 knows how to win at Santa Pod

Elvira Karlsson from Sweden will be 16 this year and she completed her license during round #1 in Hungary. She is in co-operation with team Veidec and the plan is she rides Kalle Lyréns bike from 2010.

There are a few more ladies in the class- In Hungary local rider Andrea Matusik was on track and for round #3 the Sweden International, Gabriella Nikolovska will join the championship in her home country.

Champion Ulf Ögge was not in Hungary, struggled badly with a new engine during tests in Sweden a week later, but seemingly sorted most things out before leaving the Tierp Arena. Our guess is he  might feel a bit less comfortable than usual until he enter the track at Santa Pod and get some nice runs produced.

Anders Abrahamson, Swden has the potential to beat anyone any time, not least for his drivers skills. He sits out the Main Event due to problems with delays in parts delivery. Abrahamson joins the championship for round #3 in Sweden at his new home track, the stunning Tierp Arena.

There is a long list of other riders with potential, Fredrik Fredlund, Kenneth Vik and Gert-Jan Laseur are among the foreign riders. UK riders with a lot of skills include Martin Bishop and Len Paget, who both participate in the championship also at the non-UK events.

Ögge and Laseur was in the final at the Main Event 2010. Ögge´s winning ET was 7.16 sec. This year we believe more than one 7.0 second runs will have been produced on track by Pro Stock Bike teams before the Main Event is over
