A fresh European record has already been
set at the Santa Pod track this year. Dave Beck got
it together during the Easter Thunderball running 7.067
sec/302.91 km (188.25 mph). By that he proved his previous
record from the European Finals 2009 was no coincidence. Beck has
since then not been close to repeating and struggled last season with
a new bike, knew the potential but was frustrated not to get it out. Well,
now he has and the record is for him to keep and for all the others
to chase.
Jesper Thiel is after the record for sure and almost managed to touch it only a week after
Beck, Thiel then at the Kunmadaras track in Hungary. The Danish rider who
was already a strong contender in 2010 (his first year in the class) has
proven he might well be the next man to win the Pro Stock Bike
Championship title.
And to Thiels help he has well reputed Tom
Tinndahn. Tom, who has won titles himself but now spend his time off the bike
helping a few riders by contributing both hand on and with
knowledge. 2010 he contributed to Ulf Ögges success and for 2011 focus
mainly on team Sovereign, which include Jesper Thiel and rookie Rasmus
Olesen, both from Denmark.
Kalle Lyrén did
well in Hungary during round #1 - runner-up and a new personal record of
7.21/298 km was a great start to his championship season 2011.
