The Europeans that travelled west..

UK based photographer and editor Roger Gorringe has monitored the European drivers and riders who participated in the NHRA Drag Racing events after the race season in Europe came to an end. We are happy to share Rogers brief update with You!

The Alamo Junior Dragster girls Paige and Belle Wheeler were in the Fremont Street NHRA Autograph Signing session just before the NHRA Big O Tires Nationals in Las Vegas in late October, they joined dozens of drivers and riders that pleased the multitude of fans that queued to meet, get hero cards signed and have photos taken with their racing idols.

Thomas Nataas driving the Karsten & Per Andersen Top Fuel car sat on top of the qualifying pole in round one in Las Vegas for a few pairs but was then unfortunately bumped down below the sixteen car field despite the four tries to gain entry. The team will now head to the season finale at Pomona, California where they hope to improve and get through some competative rounds.

Jarmo Markkanen the Senior Editor in Chief of Finland's V8 Magazine went to his first round of Stock in his new Firebird, the former Jim Waldo car. Jarmo dealt himself out in round one of competition with a red light but was not too disappointed as that was only the fourth run in the car. Plans were to contest a bracket race and the Divisional event after the NHRA Big O Tires Nationals.

Adam Flamholc managed to get to the first round of a very tough field of Pro Mod at the NHRA Big O Tires Nationals in Las Vegas in late October but lost in that round.

Fredrik Fredlund was at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, California in early November riding a borrowed bike chassis but using Fredrik’s own engine named Alvin. Out of four qualifying passes that Fredrik made the best was a 6.995 at 191mph, the first European to run those numbers and with the field so tough those figures put the team tuned by Gary Stoffer in nineteenth place, the last bike of twenty-six that was in the sixes. The bike was twenty-five pounds overweight and no parts were hurt on the passes down the quarter-mile. It is planned that Gary Stoffer will join the team for both Sweden rounds of the UEM Championship in 2012.
