16 Super Twin team on site at Santa
Pod to compete for a space in the 8 bike ladder.
Ex-funny bike rider Christian Jäger, who had a
successful first half of the season, the first in Super Twin, had to
cancel his entry for the European Finals, but ending 10th in the points
standings out of 28 riders is not bad for a first season.
Canadian tuner and rider Ron Houniet,
worked with fellow countryman Nate Gagnon to ride his bike at Hockenheim.
After reviewing his options licensewise run the bike himself at the
European Finals, he went for the option to let well experienced rider
Ronny Aasen ride the bike at Santa Pod. Aasen, who is the currenct speed
record holder has not been running in the championship this
season. The fact Aasen had not been riding this particular bike
before did not seem to bother him. He qualified 7th with 6.75
sec. Low qualifier Per Bengtsson had a points lead that seemed
confident entering the European Finals. After adjusting the bike to
the somewhat tricky situation with a starline that had been repaved just
before the event, he was llow qualifier with 6.600 sec. followed by
Job Heezen 6.607 and Roel Koedam who made the las entry of his long
career at 6.61. the 2010 champion Lorenz Stäuble have not been as
successful this season, entering at Santa Pod he managed a 4th quickest at
6.66 sec.
As always in the strong Super Twin field half of the
teams did not get a space in the ladder and a number of 1st class
performers found themselves outside for different reasons. Some did
just not find the best setup for the track, while others like Jan
Sturla Hegré whos has been a candidate for the podium all seeason broke
partsand had to park the bike. Hegré however ends in a 4th championship
position. Well done Jan Sturla and team Rolfstad, we hope there are
still many wins for Jan Sturla to come over the coming
seasons!
