Six UK rider on site where Martin Bishop before the event was best positioned at a 5th place in the points standings.

Bishop qualified no 6 with 7.48 while Len  Paget, who is also a frequent championship rider qualified 10th

The predictions were that new records could be set at Santa Pod possibly by any of the Sovereign Buells of Thiel or Olesen, or by Fredlund or current ET speed record holder Dave Beck. But this time it was not to be. While some teams managed to keep their normal standard of performance, some

It was new European champion Jesper Thiel´s team mate Rasmus Olesen who took the lead after four sessions of qualifications. 7.14 sec at 182 mph was 4 hundreds of a second quicker that Fredrik Fredlund in 2nd place and 6 hundreds quicker than Thiel who had run 7.20.

Olesen enjoyed a bye run 1st round of the eliminations, then faced Elvira Karlsson in the quarter finals and was in the semi-final up against Kalle Lyrén. A nice tight race that Lyrén won by 0.0026 sec or 8.43 inches over the finish line (!). While at it Lyrén managed to set a new personal best of 7.19 sec in the same run.

Champion Thiels eliminations started with wins over UK riders Marks Smith and Martin Bishop, none of them quite at the same level yet as Thiel who went on the face Fredlund in the semi final. Thiel´s race ended there. Fredlund 7.18 against Thiels 7.29 and Fredlund´s chance to advance and pass Lyrén in points lived on.

Congratulations European champion Jesper Thiel, runner-up Fredrik Fredlund and Kalle Lyrén who took the 3rd place in the championship!

The final was between Fredlund and Lyrén. Both excellent riders and Lyrén away first from the starting line .058 compared to Fredlunds .078. Over the finish line it was however the capacity of Fredlunds bike that rules and and although Fredlund´s 7.18 sec win was within reach this weekend performancewise for Kalle and team Veidec, his 7.26 in the final did not quite to the job this time. Kalle runner up and Fredlund winner of the European Finals 2011 assisted by US tuner Gary Stoffer on site while the bike of Kalle Lyrén is in the safe hands of dad Roger and crew. Well done and congratulations to both teams!

And don´t miss what Fredrik Fredlund has to tell in the "talking with the winners" article in this edition!..

The final between Kalle Lyrén (near) and Fredrik Fredlund

Number 2 and 3 in the championship Fredrik Fredlund and Kalle Lyrén. Fredlund also has the current European speed record which he recieved a certificate issued by UEM and Speedgroup

The Sovereign Buells of Jesper Thiel and Rasmus Olesen have provided a great show all season and rookie Olesen was low qualifier at Santa Pod. Well done Rasmus! New champion Thiel still miss a European record that seems like minor details at this time. Congratulations team Sovereign!

Team Veidec Racing´s Kalle Lyrén (center) celebrated with his team at the prize giving ceremony. A new personal best of 7.19 sec in the eliminations was well worth celebrating and of course ending in the 3rd place in the championship out of 26 riders is a great achievement for young Kalle his second season in the class.
