Crowd pleaser Jaska Salakari doubled in
Top Fuel Bike and Super Twin at this event. He struggled in Top Fuel
Bike during qualifications and was taken out 1st round against
Paljakka when parts from Salakari´s bike was spread in his opponents
lane. Paljakka with a defect bike but on to the semi-finals where Steve
Woollatt had his things in order and outran
Paljakka.
The gigant of the meet in the
class without question was Peter Svensson from Sweden
who adjusted the bike well to the track after some initial tyre
issues. The ET:s team Kendall and rider Peter delivered needs no
further explaining - 5.96 sec. followed by runs at 6.009
and 5.991 sec were impressive to watch. Salakari, Svensson, Woollatt and
Selkämaa also took part in the exhibition part during the night show
and the crowd was ecstatic to watch them blast down the track.
Kai
Selkämma from Finland made a welcome comeback at Hockenheim for one event,
qualified no 5 and lasted to the semi finals where Peter Svensson simply
was to fast to beat for Selkämaa. We hope to see Kai back in championship competition 2012 again!
Steve Woollatt enjoyed the Rico Anthes quartermile
and ran consistent during eliminations. He earned a place in the final
where he should have faced Peter Svensson if not the curfew had put an end
to the race just before that.
Leaving the NitrOlympx for this time
it is still Ian King who leads the points standings with at 203 points,
now followed by Peter Svensson and Jaska Salakari at 186 points equally.
All three with a theoretical chance to become the 2011 Top Fuel Bike
Champion. however Salakari is not on the entry list for the remaining
race, which means it will be a battle between King and Svensson. We can
hardly wait to follow it!
