Kalle
Lyrén who was a rookie in 2010 has established himself in the class and
although not running as quick as Fredlund, Olesen and Thiel, he is very
consistent as a rider and the VEIDEC team make sure he has a bike that go
down the track run after run and incidents of technical nature seems
rare.
In Hockenheim Lyrén qualified 4th, took out Martin Newbury in
round one, continued with Gert-Jan Laseur in the quarter finals but met
his overman in Rasmus Olesen in the semi final and lost. Olesen was
the not so unexpected low qualifier of the meet with 7.10 sec, he has
shown great potential and the new bike is good enough to run as
quick as his team mate Jesper Thiel´s. So this time Thiel did not collect a
full jackpot to start with. His 7.17 sec. was good for the 3rd
position, which meant he got to meet lady rider Elvira Karlsson in
the first round and Martin Bishop in the next. Both runs resulted in wins
and in the semi finals it was time to face Fredrik Fredlund, who
has been the strongest opponent to Thiel up to this point.
Fredlund lost after a startline timing incident (which we
will leave without further speculations). It was Olesen
and Thiel who took the positions in the final, but it was not to
be as the race was called off sunday evening slightly before it.
