Super Twin Bike Review FHRA Nitro Nationals Alastaro Finland
The Super Twin class continued to show strong numbers, both in regards to the number of teams on site as well as performance. What a super strong championship class this is and what a joy to watch them on track!

Jaska Salakari (near) ran an unbelievable 6.390 sec in the first round of eliminations against Olstad. Salakari however failed to back up the run to be a new European record. The valid record was set by Anders Charley Karling already in 2004 and is for 6.458 sec. Well done Jaska and crew!

Australian rider Mark Ashelford was not as successful as in Tiep. Ashelford lost first round to Bengtsson but the team looked happy anyhow.

While 2010 champion Lorenz Stäuble met Koedam in the first round and did not have anything to put up against him, the time difference 6.81 sec for Koedam against Stäuble´s 7.07 sec. Koedam then continued to beat championship leader on the startline in the semi-final.

Jan Sturla Hegré now  2nd in the championship
9 points after leader Bengtsson and 4 ahead of Koedam who is 3rd. Three events remain and a lot can still happen in this unpredictable class where teams take turns at running at an extremely high level of performance seemingly no matter what track they enter. Some tracks just take a few more runs to sort out, that´s all..

Check the full points table under a separate headline.

Round #5 of the UEM Drag Bike Championship is held at Gardermoen Raceway on august 5-7th

Mark Ashelford towed back after a run

Trond Jostein Höiberget and Greger Johansson (right) the latter was close making it to the final.

Christian Jäger had his own trick to stay cool in the extreme heat wearing a damp towel around his neck in the lineup. Jäger now 5th in the championship after having ended outside the ladder at Alastaro. And he was in prominent company with Rolfstad, Kemppainen, Höiberget, Määttä.. and the list goes on.. that is Super Twin Bike in a nutshell for the time being.. Nobody can be sure to qualify and even less sure to win and event..

.. so no wonder Roel Koedam was a very happy winner at Alastaro - also read what he had to say in the winners interview in a separate article in this edition!

Mentor, "Godfather" and legend rider Ton Pels shows his emotions after Roel crossed the finish line too and the tv-crew was quick to catch it on camera! A memorable moment and our sincere congratulations to team Zodiac and Roel!s
