The Nitro Nationals was the second NDRS-event for the year on
finnish soil. Six car classes and one bike class was represented when the
qualifications started on Thursday.
There was several rounds this
day but then the luck changed for the organizer FHRA. Heavy rain and
thunder storms occured both on Friday and Saturday and disturbed the
qualification rounds for the FIA/UEM classes.
On Sunday, the weather was no problem, but it turned out
before race start that the timing-equipment had been severely damaged
during the thunderstorm on Saturday. New parts was picked up, but the race
was delayed to mid-afternoon. And despite extension of curfew time, there
was no chance to end all elimination ladders.
Some racers left the race
before any final decision were announced by the organizer, making some
confusement in the sportsman classes in regards to awarded points. Below
is a summary of what happened, but there are still some open
matters where elimination rounds may be ruled to be cancelled by
the organizer (mainly Stock/Super Stock).
So please keep that in mind and contact Speedgroup with any questions
you may have meanwhile to points co-ordinator Carl-Erik Kihlman at email

and ran very consistent. Top qualifier with 6.159 . At the end of this
16-car ladder, only Michael Gullqvist was left to threaten The Green
Goblin Team. Despite the weekend low ET on 5,988 , Mats won at the tree
